Description
HURS APRIL 24TH. Opening Night of Jazz Fest. Come party with a couple of bands that you won’t likely be hearing at The Fairgrounds anytime soon...
The infamous CC ADCOCK + THE LAFAYETTE MARQUIS and perennially sensational DASH RIP ROCK will combine forces and backlines to perform an integrated non-stop “poker game” maxi-set of authentic South Louisiana Cow Punk Swamp n’ Roll.
Both acts have come to realize over their years in this lowly club-gig racket, that set breaks between bands and backline changes etc. make a show feel a bit too “festival-y.” Besides, neither act trusts the other alone for a full set with their backstage hospitality rider. So they shall both perform at once, a few songs each at a time (DRR may be allowed more song slots in each segment given that their tunes are shorter, catchier, and more succinct, with CC’s tending to be more meandering and “jammy” - yuck).
ALL KILLER - NO FILLER! FROM 11PM ‘TIL ITS DONE & DUSTED! Gee-tar & song slingin’, big bass slappin’ & thumpin’, beat scrubbin’ & bangin’, Creole ‘ccordion squeezin’ live boogie music dance-a-thon!
Also count on a bass player arm wrastlin’ contest and possibly a Quint Davis look alike wet dashiki contest... This, along with all the other debauched general mayhem you’ve come to expect from these tried & true leauxcal boy bands. Laizzez fuck shit up!
$35 advance / $40 door
ABSOLUTELY NO FAMOUS SPECIAL GUEST “STARS” WILL BE SITTING IN!!!
This is gonna be one for da books (and possibly our insurance adjuster) – Love, Chickie Wah²

Swamp rock ‘n’ roller CC Adcock has packed a lot of living into his 33 years: guitar stints with Bo Diddley and Buckwheat Zydeco, an acclaimed solo record, film scores and album productions, as well as being founder and leader of the all-star swamp-pop supergroup, Lil’ Band O’ Gold.
A sharp-dressed man who favors custom-made suits and fine footwear (usually reptilian), Adcock’s wit is as nimble as his fingers’ this is a player who’s been gigging and immersing himself in the Louisiana music scene since his early teens. “The greatest thing about living down here is that you can still go and knock on the door and hang out with all your heroes, and you can even start bands and play with ’em, which is double cool,” says Adcock. “I mean, it’s not like you can go and hang around with Robert Johnson, but comin’ up down here I have been able to hang out with cats who played with Howlin’ Wolf and Clifton Chenier and lots of first and second generation real-deal cats whose blues turned into rock ‘n’ roll. To me, it’s just amazing, in this day and age, to be this close to it all and to still be able to make that connection.”
