STILL MACHINE (members of Timeout Drawer, Beak Svlphvrvs)
Still Machine is a new brand of drum-driven post-punk in the spirit of Joy Division, Mission of Burma, The Police, and all the music those hallowed bands inspired. They won’t offer you a way out or an escape from the imminent, but rather a way through. Raw and bewitching, Still Machine will move your head, your heart, and your feet.
Dead Register is a genre-bending, monolithic, gothic-tinged, gloomy, melodic, “doom-gaze” based in Atlanta. In late 2013, M. Chvasta (vocals, bass, bass vi) recruited his wife, Avril Che for her bass synth, textures, keys, and background vocal accompaniment. Skeletons of mechanical songs were created with programmed beats, which were replaced in 2014 by the refined drumming of Chad Williams.
Driven by heavy, down-tuned guitar riffs and melodic vocal harmonies, Jess Ambriz and Jon Slusher bring you a haunting variation of doom and slow core, conveying darkness and light with heavy guitars and voice. Drummer Quinn Curren and bass player Alan Strathmann fill out this dystopian beauty that will have your ears ringing and your head humming.
Sanford Parker’s body of work should not be considered as a collection of loose sheets. Such an oeuvre would be approaching the dimensions of a phone book that could crush a cockroach without any difficulty. It’s not easy to narrow it down to just a few highlights. Let’s put it this way: anyone who has lowered their ear into the chasm of sound between metal and industrial in the last ten to fifteen years will most likely have come into contact with Parker’s work.
