Doug Starks' “HIGHERGROUND” Celebrating the music of Stevie Wonder is an exciting show paying homage to the musical genius of Stevie Wonder.
This is not an impersonator show! This show is done with the utmost respect.
Our goal is to re-present the music of Stevie Wonder in the spirit in which it was given…..that simply being of LOVE.
Featuring veteran performer Doug Starks whose stage experience includes being a comedian / singer, opening act on touring with such industry giants as; Julio Iglesias, Smokey Robinson, Natalie Cole and Ray Charles to name but a few.
Offstage Starks has also been a writer for Television and film, has had his own nationally syndicated radio program and Headlined in Las Vegas for over a decade playing Sammy Davis Jr. in “The Rat Pack is Back” produced by Davis Cassidy and Don Reo.
Combining his arsenal of talents Starks guides this journey through the Stevie Wonder song book.
Doug Starks' “HIGHERGROUND” is backed by a 10 piece band of the industries best musicians and singers.
“HIGHERGROUND” is music intense with intervals hilarious, insightful and always uplifting.

    For the past few years this tribute show has cemented their status as the most exhilarating and comprehensive tribute to Sly and the Family Stone while also emphasizing just how influential Sly Stone has been on Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Prince, John Legend, LL Cool J, Musiq Soul Child, Nikka Costa and countless others... Diffrent Folkz has built a solid reputation for world class, quality entertainment highlighted by performances at Vibrato Grill, Jazz ETC, the Whiskey A Go Go, Catalina Bar and Grill, The Federal NoHo, Aldabella Winery, The Viper Room, Soboba Casino, California Strawberry Festival, San Manuel Casino, Harrahs Ak Chin, State Theatre Friendship Shell - Bay City, MI, House of Blues, and MCCS (Marine Corps) performances in Tokyo and Okinawa Japan. Previously as Everyday People - a Neo Sly Stone Experience Hot Fun in the Summertime was released and rose to #20 on the World and Euro Indie Music Charts and Thank U Faleetinme B Mice Elf has be showcased on WNZK AM 690 Morning Cup of Joe - Dearborn Hights, MI and has been featured on OZCAT Radio 89.5FM - Vallejo, CA to critical acclaim! 

    Diffrent Folkz - a Neo Sly Stone Experience is a Los Angeles based, crossover, (Dance to the Music, Family Affair, Everyday People, Thank U Faletinme B Mice Elf, Hot Fun in the Summertime! and much more! All night long the hits just keep on coming! You will also learn and understand how Sly has influenced Michael Jackson, Prince, Janet Jackson, Music Soul Child, Nikka Costa and modern music in general! As 2013 was coming to a close, bassist Robin Rountree was approached by members of Sly Stones family and previous band members, creating a Sly and the Family Stone Tribute. They needed a funky bass player and Ms. Rountree leaped at the opportunity to play this music. After a few months that crew broke, and Ms. Rountree developed this exciting tribute!

There is a Two Drink Minimum per person unless you have made a Dinner Reservation through the Box Office.

Dinner reservations get you reserved priority seating for the entire evening that is in front of general admission seating and closer to the stage. There is no additional cost to make a dinner reservation but you are required to purchase a minimum of $20 in dinner the night of the show EXCLUDING DRINKS with your food server. Dinner reservations require you arrive no later than 1 hour after the doors open. To make a dinner reservation please call 949-496-8930.
