Blending the rich traditions of New Orleans brass with the fiery spirit of Django Reinhardt’s “Jazz Manouche,” Django New Orleans reimagines timeless classics with thrilling new energy. “…melding Reinhardt’s style with Dixieland. A pair of lovely Edith Piaf torch songs, notably ‘La Vie en Rose’ and ‘Nature Boy’, done as a march, are charming creations—but other tracks are interestingly more exploratory, such as Astor Piazzolla’s strident ‘Libertango’. Wrembel ventures into singing on Serge Gainsbourg’s languid ‘La Javanaise,’ King luxuriating in Antonio Carlos Jobim’s sublime ‘Waters of March’ and a pair of fascinating Wrembel compositions (the thorny yet soaring ‘Holden Caulfield’ and the sadly reflective ‘Ménage à trois’), taking Reinhardt’s style to far-flung places.”--The New York City Jazz Record, November 2025
“Wrembel’s talented group of musicians have created an affable, easy-to-like album.” Pop Matters
“This album is fresh and wonderful to listen to because of the great variety in their repertoire and the consistent reminder of Django Reinhardt’s timeless music and the French influence that permeates New Orleans culture. The multi-talented Stephane Wrembel shines as an outstanding Musical Conductor, a gifted guitarist, composer, and emotional, from-the-heart singer. Coupled with the outstanding Django New Orleans II ensemble, here is both a creative and historic masterpiece of music that drips with spiritual joy.”—Making A Scene
“What separates this performance from all others I have seen to date is the joy, charm and passion that blatantly radiates off of Stéphane and the members of his 9-piece Django New Orleans specialty group — positively infecting the audience, where at times, they seemed to join in the glow.”— Show review from Theater Pizzazz.com
