Steely Dead is a Denver-based national touring band that seamlessly fuses the iconic sounds of Grateful Dead and Steely Dan into one electrifying live experience. Formed in 2019, the group has carved out a unique niche by blending Steely Dan’s polished, jazz-infused studio arrangements with the Grateful Dead’s free-flowing improvisation and exploratory jams. 

Led by guitarist Dave Abear alongside Matt Abear (bass), Chris Sheldon (drums), and Dylan Teifer (keys), Steely Dead delivers soulful interpretations of classic material while weaving in original transitions and extended segues that keep every performance fresh and unpredictable.
