    Music

Jehlad Hickson was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, but that’s not where he really grew up. Throughout his life, he has moved about 18 times, around the east coast, and then finally to San Diego, where he resides currently. His love of music started when he was 2 when he got a bongo set, and then continued when he started singing at 3. Although he doesn’t have a musical family, music runs in his veins. He plays guitar, electric bass, drums, piano, sings, writes his own songs, and eventually wants to learn the saxophone.
  • Kahlil Nash

    Kahlil Nash

    Funk

Emerging from the elite San Diego music scene in California, San Diego Music Award winner Kahlil Nash is a Funk/Rock and R&B recording artist/producer who is a multi-instrumentalist. Influenced by artists Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, and Prince, Kahlil Nash thrives to entertain his audience.

Longing for the stage, Kahlil Nash began performing when he was 3 years old. He would spend the first 10 years performing in community plays and talent showcases at local night clubs before attending a creative and performing arts school. Kahlil’s insatiable appetite would lead him to write and record his own music at 13 years old. In 2016, Kahlil self-released his 1st EP entitled ‘Elation’. On top of writing his own music, he has recently been producing and writing with various artists; Kahlil has also produced a variety of remixes such as “Finesse” by Bruno Mars ft. Cardi B., “Forgot About Dre” By Dr. Dre ft Eminem and “B.B.H.M.M.” by Rihanna for DJ Jam’s radio show on iHeart Radio’s Jam’n 95.7.

Kahlil’s music connects with the audience and has given him the opportunity to perform at a vast array of prominent venues and events; including a 2-year residency at Hard Rock Cafe San Diego, shows at House of Blues San Diego (Voodoo Room/Mainstage), San Diego County Fair, the UpFest Peace Ride (Los Angeles) and the Rise Up as One concert, where he sang back up for Grammy-nominated artist Andra Day, just to name a few.

Kahlil’s eclectic musical interest inspires him to continuously create and compose modernistic music out of his bedroom studio. This inspired his San Diego Music Award-nominated Bedroom Pop EP “Transcendence”, a collection of songs reflecting the unfolding of this young talents' journey, inspiring love, and good vibes.

    Jonny Tarr

    Singer-Songwriter

I am originally from Wales, but somehow I always knew I would end up in California. I started playing the saxophone when I was 11 years of age because I thought it might get me girls and I ended up really loving it. I got involved with Jazz early on and found that this was a solid foundation for understanding many more genres of music. I went to Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts to get my music degree and after college I toured Europe, the US and Japan and played nearly every major festival in the UK as well as opening for people such as GOLDIE, THE EGG, BREAKBEAT ERA and GIL SCOTT HERON during the early 2000s. I was also part of the bands for PART TIME HEROES and THE NEXTMEN (with whom I wrote and sang the tune ROCKETS which has now had over 2.5 million streams on Spotify at time of writing) I was one of the first people in Europe to play saxophone with House music DJs and found that I was mostly interested in music that made people dance. This is the music I wanted to create. With the realization that the saxophone is not really a songwriting tool, I taught myself guitar and piano and I used my understanding of music theory to help me form bands and a unique solo show where I can pretty much incorporate all of my skills at once. I now consider myself a singer/songwriter first and foremost but I am consistently involved with a wide range of projects as well as my own band - THE JONNY TARR QUINTET. Since moving to the United States, I have been lucky enough to open for such legendary acts as THE VICTOR WOOTEN TRIO, OZOMATLI and THE FAMILY STONE, plus share the stage with Billy Gibbons of ZZ TOP and multi grammy award winning BEBE WINANS. I even got to be part of the opening act, THE PINK FLOYD EXPERIENCE for FOREIGNER’s Cold As Ice tour in 2019. I also just won the San Diego Music Award for BEST POP ARTIST 2020 and headlined the NAMM show’s D’Angelico Stage 2020 with my Quintet . I released my lockdown album TOUGH STUFF on San Diego's Pacific Records at the end of last year and it has just been entered for consideration by the GRAMMYs.
