Dance/Electronic
Smerz are the Norwegian duo of Henriette Motzfeldt and Catharina Stoltenberg. Known for the “carefully shaped, deconstructed pop” (Boomkat) of their debut EP’s Okey (2017) and Have Fun (2018), Smerz seamlessly weave together techniques and sounds pulled from chamber and classical music, hip hop, R&B, and hard electronics, with the end product always resulting in something altogether uncanny. Taking their audio-visual experience across the globe, Smerz have curated performances at the Tate Modern, MOCA Geffen, MIRA Festival with Weirdcore.TV, the Norwegian National Company of Contemporary Dance and Club To Club. With Believer, their 2021 debut full-length album on XL Recordings, they formalize the boundless sonic world that started to emerge within each of their debut EP’s and in their running NTS monthly residency.

As a producer, DJ, and international radio show host, Debit has been called "an impeccable talent" (i-D). Since 2012, she's been an influential force in the Mexican experimental, electronic and club music scenes, and after relocating to New York in 2015, has become an active figure in the development of the Latin American musical diaspora's new generation aesthetics and circuits. Her production style ranges from dance to ambient music, filtered through an experimental approach with her signature blends of Latin American musical references, club beats, dramatic accents, baroque synths, and polymorphous textures. Mexican-American producer Debit harnesses the cerebral and the physical, moving our bodies and minds to her cross-genre experiments. She holds a Masters degree in Music Technology from NYU.
Since 2010, Debit has been active as a DJ, live performer and music producer. In 2016, she began DJing professionally, and in 2017 was invited to take part in the Red Bull Music Academy Bass Camp at Bonnaroo. Her Debut LP “Animus” was released through Mexico City's NAAFI in Feb 2018, receiving critical acclaim from a wide range of international media. It was ranked 14th in Fact Mag's Best 50 Albums of the year and # 1 in Noisey Español's Best Latin American Electronic Albums of 2018. In September 2018, Debit released a now sold-out ambient tape called Love Discipline through Quiet Time Tapes "V Highly Recommended!" (Boomkat). That year, Noisey Español also placed her as one of the top "20 Hispanic artists to keep in the radar of 2018". In 2019, her third release System was ranked best music by Fact, Resident Advisor and Pitchfork.
DEBIT has performed in MoMA PS1 Warm-up, Mutek SF 1st edition, Mutek Montreal and Mexico, Red Bull Music Academy Festival New York, HOCO Fest, Moogfest 19, and Crossover festivals like Panorama NYC, Estereo Picnic Bogóta, Ceremonia in México City and Hellow Fest in Monterrey.
