A CELEBRATION OF Making Life Livable Legendary punk-industrial rockers, Skatenigs, are gearing up to hit the road once again, bringing their raw energy and fearless attitude on tour to commemorate their explosive debut album “Stupid People Shouldn’t Breed”. Known for their unapologetic anti-racist stance and penchant for reckless abandon, Skatenigs have always embodied the spirit of rebellion, and this upcoming tour will be no different. The band, which rose to prominence with a blend of in-your-face lyrics and genre-defying sound, continues to push boundaries and challenge the status quo. As part of the celebration, Skatenigs will be releasing one new single every month over the next year. Some tracks will be blistering originals, while others will be fresh takes on iconic songs that resonate with the band’s fierce ethos. Among the anticipated covers are Skatenigs’ versions of: • Bad Religion’s high-octane punk anthem “Along the Way” • Creedence Clearwater Revival’s swamp-rock classic “Run Through the Jungle” • A tribute to fellow Texan icon Willie Nelson with “Shotgun Willie”, given a signature Skatenigs twist. “Music is a weapon, and we’re here to fight the good fight,” says frontman Phil Owens. “We’ve never shied away from calling out the wrongs in this world, whether it’s racism or political corruption, and this tour is a reminder that Skatenigs stand on the front lines of that battle.” Skatenigs’ live performances are infamous for their electrifying chaos and no-holds-barred energy, and this tour promises to be a powerful reminder of the band’s continued relevance and impact. Fans can expect to hear a mix of tracks from their legendary debut album “Stupid People Shouldn’t Breed”, alongside new material and their monthly single releases. Tour Dates & Locations: (To be announced soon) For tickets, updates, and exclusive content, fans are encouraged to follow Skatenigs on their official channels.
About Skatenigs Skatenigs emerged from Austin’s underground music scene with a ferocious blend of punk, industrial, and metal that broke boundaries and challenged societal norms. Known for their outspoken political views, especially their anti-racist stance, Skatenigs have remained a rebellious force in the music industry for decades. Their debut album “Stupid People Shouldn’t Breed” remains a rallying cry for those who stand against ignorance and oppression.
The Skatenigs' lead singer, Phil "Phildo" Owen, previously performed on the album Beers, Steers, and Queers by the Revolting Cocks and performed with the band on tour from 1989 to 1991.[1] They released the single "Chemical Imbalance" in 1991 on Wax Trax! Records. Its B-side was a cover of the Big Boys song "Big Picture."[2] Their debut album, Stupid People Shouldn't Breed, was released on Megaforce Records in 1992. It was produced by Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen, making the Skatenigs the first Texas band to attract Ministry's attention.[3]Also in 1992, Owen produced Burning in Water, Drowning in Flame, the debut album by fellow Texans from Corpus Christi Skrew.[4] Owen formed Choreboy along with Chris Gates of the Big Boys.[2]In 2011, Phil Owen reformed the band, but this time recruiting Mike Scaccia of Ministry and Casey Orr of GWAR. The band would play a few outings that year and the following year. But it wasn't until 2016 when the band self-released Adult Entertainment For Kids that Owen would reform once again, this time with the current lineup of Myke Bingham, Adam Lamar, and Chris Gates, with production cohort Chris Ahrens.
In 2020, the band released two albums compiling previously released material, as Show Me Where They Touched Youand Show Me Where They Touched You... Again.
During 2020, the current lineup took advantage of shutdowns to produce a new album, What Could Go Wrong?, which was released by Cleopatra Records and Armalyte Industries on November 5, 2021.

Punk Rock from Birmingham AL
Currently Birmingham's longest-running punk band. We've played all over the Southeast, hitting Alabama (obviously), Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana at least once. Florida, your day will come...eventually. We've played bars, all-ages clubs, parties, and even a mental institution. Over the years, we've been lucky enough to play with some amazing touring bands (Agnostic Front, UK Subs, MDC, Murphy's Law, The Vibrators, Zero Boys, Fear, Fishbone, Koffin Kats, etc.) as well as countless regional and local bands. For a complete list of every show we've ever played, check the "Notes" section on this site and the Facebook page. We've also managed to put out four full-length CD's, a 7", several CD EP's, and have been on more than a few compilations.
While there may be a bit of metal and the like thrown in, we have been and always will be a punk band. You do this because you can't imagine doing anything else, and the day that stops, so will we. Slowly putting together songs for an eventual 12", but don't hold your breath, as we take our time writing songs. So there, that's it. If you want to know anything else, you'll just have to ask...
