Bob Livingston

Bob Livingston is a pioneering Texas singer-songwriter, author, and founding member of the legendary Lost Gonzo Band—a group that helped shape the sound of progressive country in the 1970s alongside artists like Jerry Jeff Walker, Michael Martin Murphey, and Ray Wylie Hubbard. With a career that spans more than five decades, Livingston has earned a reputation as a cosmic troubadour whose songs, stories, and spirit embody the wild heart of Texas progressive country music.
Originally from Lubbock and long based in Austin, Livingston was instrumental in creating iconic records such as Viva Terlingua and Geronimo’s Cadillac, which broke new ground by fusing traditional country with rock, folk, and a healthy dose of freewheeling Gonzo energy. His own solo work is just as impactful: he’s released nine records under his name, including Gypsy Alibi, which won “Album of the Year” at the Texas Music Awards, and Up the Flatland Stairs, which continues his tradition of thoughtful, genre-bending songwriting.
In fall of 2025, Livingston will release his long-awaited memoir, Gypsy Alibi: A Gonzo Memoir, through Texas Tech University Press. The book offers a candid and colorful look into the untamed world of Texas music, loaded with never-before-told tales from his years on the road, in the studio, and across the globe.
As a cultural ambassador for the U.S. State Department, Livingston has taken his music to 30+ countries, collaborating with local musicians from India, Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. The result is a genre-bending blend of “country and eastern”—a phrase Livingston coined to describe his East-meets-West collaborations, rich in rhythm and global connection.
On stage, Livingston delivers performances that are part concert, part storytelling, and fully immersive. His sets are filled with sharp wit, vivid characters, Texas lore, and original songs delivered with gritty vocals and world-class musicianship. Cowboys & Indians Magazine described his style as “cerebral and a little bit feral,” a perfect summation of the artful balance between insight and wild-eyed energy he brings to every show.
Bob Livingston is a proud member of the Texas Commission on the Arts Touring Roster, bringing his unique shows to schools, theaters, libraries, and festivals across the Lone Star State. His contributions to music and culture have been honored with inductions into both the West Texas Walk of Fame and the Texas Music Legends Hall of Fame.
Livingston is singer-songwriter and a master raconteur who captures his audience from the first notes played. It's an irresistible invitation to travel down the musical roads where his rambles have taken him over the years. What country? That is the question.”

Peter Mayer, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, has been with Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band for over three decades. Mayer also follows his own musical path with both national and international tours and has released 20 live and studio albums to date. Over his years in music he has been privileged to share the stage with many bright lights in the music industry including James Taylor, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Don Henley, Dave Matthews, and many others.
Brendan Mayer, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, has been building a following, laying his tracks in the music world. He released his first album, the “Getaway Car” EP, on Jimmy Buffett’s Mailboat Records, after touring a year with Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band in 2014. He has spent the last months working on his latest release, “Best at the Show,” which is due out this year. He performs regularly on his solo tours.
Brendan and Peter joined forces in 2017 to record their debut album, “Long Story Short.” With both songwriters contributing to the list, this collection of twelve songs showcases the father and son’s unique musical directions that, together, weave a unified sound with compelling lyrics and inventive melodies. The result is two voices turned into one with their bloodline harmony.

"Derek Dames Ohl is like warm butter on hot bread with blustering conduct. As a modern-day herald, Derek keeps his roots close with a six-string on his back, ping-ponging across the United States, sharing songs at every bar or dive that dares. His sounds eclipse and perfect everything from Country, Blues, and Honky-Tonk. His pride lies in keeping the American roots music tradition alive, with punchy guitar playing that'll surely leave listeners stomping the floorboards. Derek has been compared to artists like John Prine and Guy Clark with his quirky one moment, and woeful the next, songwriting style."

Lloyd was born and raised in Mendenhall, Mississippi. He learned to play the guitar and harmonica from his older brothers who had a touring band called Th' Rugby's while he was still in high school. While at home, they would teach him new licks to practice before heading out again. Lloyd took it from there and soon was able to sit in with the band and take part in those famous Munn family music jams.
Over the past several years Lloyd has played over 600 different venues and has had the privilege of playing with some of the best musicians in the area. He frequently played the famous “Subway Lounge” in Jackson, Mississippi with the King Edward Band in its last years in existence.
