Branford Marsalis said: “I’ve been impressed with Scott Robinson’s playing since 1979. He has only gotten better.” Benny Golson concurred: “A beautiful tenor player…Like a careful shopper, choosing just the right notes.” Indeed, Scott Robinson ranks among the most adventurous multi–talents in contemporary music. He’s has appeared on more than 275 LP and CD releases, including twenty under his leadership.
Scott has worked with Lionel Hampton, Anthony Braxton, John Scofield, Joe Lovano, Paquito D’Rivera, Sting, Maria Schneider, Elton John, Buck Clayton, and the New York City Opera. Last year, Robinson was recruited by pianist Frank Kimbrough for the latter’s landmark multi–CD set Monk’s Dreams – The Complete Compositions of Thelonious Sphere Monk (Sunnyside, 2018). In June of this year, Scott celebrated his 60th birthday with the release of Tenormore, a superb quartet date featuring pianist Helen Sung. In addition to his crowded schedule of gigs and recordings, Scott Robinson is also “Investigative Head of Sonic Research” for ScienSonic Laboratories, a multi–media resource center striving “to create a world of musical art and science that you can enter, experience and enjoy.” There’s no better place to be on Halloween than Jazz Standard, with Scott Robinson’s Heliotones playing the music of Sun Ra – make your reservations now!

Godwin Louis – alto & soprano saxes
