Part-Time Genius (or “PTG”) is a high-energy alt-ska/funk band from Buffalo, NY. The core of the band was formed in the summer of 2016 as “Sexy Rock Band”. At that time, the band was known for their ska/reggae covers of bubble gum, and top 40 pop songs.
The band has since gone through several transitions (and name changes). Now known as Part-Time Genius or "PTG" for short, the band has come into its own as an original act.
Their high-power sounds have been thrilling music fans in and around Western New York since 2020.
PTG has opened for numerous national touring artists, including notable reggae bands like Fortunate Youth, Tropidelic, and the Bumpin Uglies.
Unable to tour during the pandemic, the band settled into a creative phase, issuing two EPs, several singles, and a number of music videos. This flood of fresh content was all self-produced and released via their independent record label (Ivyhurst Studios).
Since 2020, the band’s following has grown in and around Buffalo and Western New York. PTG will routinely play to packed clubs in their hometown of Buffalo, where fans can expect tight grooves, high-energy songs, and a polished, fun show.
The band is currently concentrating on recording new songs and expanding their fan base throughout the region.
