Description
Christmas in San Francisco: The 20th Anniversary Celebration For one night only, Russ Lorenson returns to Feinstein's at the Nikko to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of What I Want For Christmas, the holiday album that introduced his signature recording of Christmas in San Francisco, a song that has become a beloved Bay Area holiday tradition. Hosted by longtime friend and acclaimed entertainer Terese Genecco, this intimate evening is part holiday celebration, part reunion, and part behind-the-scenes look at one of the Bay Area's enduring Christmas traditions.
Rather than a traditional cabaret performance, audiences will experience the stories behind the music through conversation, rare archival video, and curated listening as Russ and Terese revisit the friendships, recording sessions, and memories that shaped the original album and the remarkable journey that led to its newly expanded and remastered 20th Anniversary Edition. The evening culminates in a special presentation of the newly reimagined recording of Christmas in San Francisco. Rather than a simple remaster, the song has been transformed from an intimate piano-and-vocal performance into a lush, fully orchestrated recording worthy of the city whose holiday magic it celebrates. Guests at Feinstein's will be among the first anywhere to hear this beautiful new version. There could be no more fitting place to celebrate its next chapter than the city that inspired it.

A terrific voice. Charisma to spare. A delightful raconteur. Unassuming nice guy. All true of Russ Lorenson, whose burnished tenor and magnetic stage presence have dazzled audiences from San Francisco to Paris. Over a career spanning more than two decades, the three-time MAC Award-nominated vocalist and songwriter has traced an artistic path from musical theatre to cabaret and ultimately to jazz, all rooted in the enduring tradition of the Great American Songbook. He is known for breathing new life into timeless classics, delivering every note with elegance, swing, and soul, whether commanding the spotlight in grand concert halls or captivating listeners in intimate settings. A former San Franciscan, he now makes his home in Alicante, Spain.
Multi-MAC and Bistro Award winner Terese Genecco is a New York-based vocalist and cabaret artist, and a longtime collaborator and friend of Russ. Terese & her 8-piece "Little Big Band" hold the title of the "longest-running nightclub act on Broadway," having appeared as the headliner at The Iridium Jazz Club on Broadway for over 100 performances between March 2009 and May 2014. Terese and Russ have performed together many times across the US, and Terese was a guest vocalist on Russ' first holiday album, What I Want For Christmas, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
Both Terese and Russ have deep roots on the Feinstein's stage. Terese was among the first performers in the room and later hosted a monthly late-night Saturday series here. Russ followed her in that role, and between them they hosted the series for nearly two years and went on to perform numerous engagements at Feinstein's over the following years. Russ' annual Christmas show became a holiday tradition for many over a 10-year run. Although San Francisco was where their careers began, both have gone on to enjoy successful runs in New York and beyond, earning a combined twelve MAC Award nominations along the way.
