ROMAIN VIRGO

They say stars aren’t made they are born. Twenty-eight years ago, in the Stepney District of St. Ann, Jamaica (about 1km from the birth place of reggae legend Bob Marley) Romain Renaldo Virgo was born. Like most of the popular music’s greats, Romain’s musical foray began at age 9 when at a church concert it was recognized that he had an unusual talent for singing. Several church functions and gold-medal winning cultural events later, Romain led his school’s choir to a second place finish in a nationally televised high school choir competition called “the All Together Sing” in 2006.

The following year, at 17, Romain became the youngest winner of Digicel Rising Stars - Jamaica’s most popular talent search competition. Throughout the competition, Romain was scintillating and sensational, outshining his opponents with singing skills that seemed to stretch far beyond the talent of a 17 year old. His win led to another first. This was an endorsement deal from Pepsi Cola Jamaica, with his picture on the Pepsi drink bottle making him the first Jamaican with such endorsement.

2009 saw Romain beginning work on his debut album, Romain Virgo, with the help of Donovan Germain of Penthouse Music and Dawin Brown of Vikings Productions. Romain quickly released his self-penned debut hit single, Can’t Sleep. Can’t Sleep’s appealing reggae grooves coupled with Romain's animated delivery and catchy hook underscored the grim ghetto realities that are still relevant even today in its lyrics: “This is a serious time/violence and crime and a bare gun thing di youths dem have pon dem mind/Micyan sleep/a pure gunshot a beat.” His next singles Love Doctor on the Automatic rhythm, and Wanna Go Home (Rain is Falling) followed the success of his first single, receiving immense airplay.

For years now, Romain has been performing many live shows globally riding the wave of his success. His latest release called Lovesick continues to build and strengthen his catalog of premium quality music. A few of the top songs on this album are Now, Trouble and Still.

Since the pandemic, the Virgos: Romain and wife Elizabeth, started a YouTube channel in September called ‘The Virgos’ – full of laughter and family updates and have steadily built a "Virgonation" following.

Romain Virgo is on a mission to make extraordinary music that will uplift, entertain and touch many people positively worldwide. He performed on the return of Sunsplash virtually in 2020 and he and his band are now prepared to go out again on the live music circuit internationally.

We are Gina René: singer/songwriter/emcee, creator of intuitive lyrical melodies and Seth 'Million 7' Theodore: pianist/drummer/dub master & riddim producer.

Gina’s grandfather, Leon René, created the first Black R&B label on the west coast, Exclusive Records, that celebrated among other hits, Louis Armstrong’s When It’s Sleepy Time Down South and the wildly popular Rockin’ Robin. Seth’s grandfather, Eddie Smith, played trumpet with the legendary Earl “Fatha” Hines Band in the 1960s. His solo featured on the song West End Blues on Hines’ LP, A Monday Date, recorded live at The Birdhouse in Chicago, established him as a worthy replacement for Louis Armstrong’s seat.

Gina René is an internationally known American singer and songwriter who discovered her voice through a series of colorful life experiences. Born into an multi-ethnic family (Créole/Choctaw Native Am./European) Gina René grew up splitting time between the coastal town of Santa Cruz and the city life of Los Angeles, Ca. Music runs in Gina’s family.

Gina sang in both jazz and concert choirs during her high-school years. She was accepted into both the regional and All-State Honor Choirs in 1994. After graduating,  Gina moved to San Francisco and became the lead singer/co-songwriter of her Brother Gabriel's band, Soulstice. The multi-cultural arts scene in San Francisco really inspired Gina to explore multiple styles with her music. Gina’s songs “U Must Be” and “Meangurl” have been featured in Major Motion Pictures & TV shows such as Disney/ Buena Vista Film’s 2006 ‘Step Up’, Paramount Pictures 2004 ‘Mean Girls’ and more.

Keyboardist, drummer, and music producer Seth “Million 7” Theodore reached a professional level while still in high school when he started touring for Hip-Hop, Reggae and Dancehall artists. With a musical family and a record collection of his own since the age of four, due to access to his mothers immense record collection from being a local Disc Jokey, a deep investigation of the history of Jazz, Soul, R&B, along with Mento, Ska, Rocksteady, Roots Reggae, and Hip-Hop continued thru choice picks of vinyl records that continues to this day.

While touring internationally on drums & keys he began producing albums for various artists including Abbyssinian member David Morrison “One Day at A Time”, Soul Majestic “Better World” , bay area reggae Legend Luv Fyah “Ethiopia We Belong” and a special riddim single with Marty Dread & Willie Nelson, along with placements in video games and movies including Jackie Chan’s release of Karate Kid featuring Jaden Smith.

Together Gina René & Million 7 bring over 58+ years of combined musical knowledge, family legacy, and live performance experience from producing and songwriting, to singing and emceeing on stages around the world.

Both of these artists felt the call at a young age to honor music as a main path to true connection and healing for both themselves and the greater world. They are committed to music and lyrics that uplift and create a potent bridge for bringing all kinds of people together to inspire them to embrace and cultivate their own inner knowing, sense of well-being, and humanity.

Gina René & Million 7 are based out of Santa Cruz, California where they are currently in the studio writing and recording their debut collaborative album Reclaim Your Throne set for release in 2023. They are also curating a new project “The Soul Bath Experience,” an original live dub and vocal channeling and presentation of soulful music infused with improvised spoken word in a guided meditation format where R&B/Soul/Hip-Hop/Reggae & Dub music are combined with the healing power of a traditional Sound Bath.
