This event has been rescheduled from 3/21/2020. All tickets purchased for the March 21st date will be honored.

Catapulted to notoriety, fame, and serious hip-hop credibility with 2002's Dead Ringer LP, DJ and multi-instrumentalist RJD2 has enjoyed a thoroughly prolific career. Underground hip-hop super-producer to some, virtuoso sample-based instrumental wizard to others, RJD2 embodies all of these things on his latest album, "The Third Hand", but placates none who seek more of the same. Recorded, performed, arranged and produced entirely by himself in his basement studio, RJD2 commands his trusty MPC 2000XL sampler/sequencer alongside analog synths, electric pianos, and guitars, not to mention his own voice.

If you took Nintendo, 90’s techno, and Radiohead, and stuck them in a mixing bowl, DGTL CLR is what would come out of the oven. This indie electronic project has categorized himself in the genre, Nextwave. (a mix of vaporwave synths, electronic dance beats, and organic sounds such as spacey guitars and sexy saxophones) Lead singer, guitarist, synth player, and producer, Devereaux Jennings (DGTL CLR) is going to be something fresh for all listeners to say the least. Mixing house with Indie music and still bringing the live aspect to the club or venue is the vision behind the project. Growing up around the ocean of Southern California in San Diego, Devereaux breathes his idea of mellow electro into these Nintendo- techno house beats.

    RJD2

    Pop

Catapulted to notoriety, fame, and serious hip-hop credibility with 2002's Dead Ringer LP, Philadelphia based DJ and multi-instrumentalist RJD2 has enjoyed a thoroughly prolific career, following that debut album with 2004's critically acclaimed Since We Last Spoke.

For The Third hand, RJD2 seemingly abandons all the notions and titles that have been placed upon him over the past 5 years. Underground hip-hop super-producer to some, virtuoso sample-based instrumental wizard to others, RJD2 embodies all of these things on the "The Third Hand" but placates none who seek more of the same. Recorded, performed, arranged and produced entirely by himself in his basement studio, RJD2 commands his trusty MPC 2000XL sampler/sequencer alongside analog synths, electric pianos, and guitars, not to mention his own voice.

The result is a cohesive pop album in the most classic sense, a sound more akin to Phoenix than Prefuse 73. In essence, this is RJD2's entrance into the continuum of enigmatic songwriter/producers (see Jon Brion, Brian Wilson, Stevie Wonder) capable of creating a record full of rich songwriting, complex arrangements and clever production that transcends genre.

IN THE BEGINNING... Prince Buster and Lee Perry created rocksteady and reggae. And the Dub was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the ska. And The Spirit of Ruddy Redwood and Duke Reid moved upon the face of the waters. And Bunny Lee and King Tubby said Let there be Dub: and there was Dub.
Monsieur Turbeau aka Eddie Turbo has been both a fan and a source of the San Diego Underground going all the way back to 1999. He co-founded the underground hip-hop downtown weekly "Milkcrate Mathematics" in the early 2000's, emitted trip-hop & downtempo vibes with the Parallel Mechanics crew in every SD lounge bar, blasted relentless dancehall & cumbia with his Dub Traffik Control project, and co-curated "Dub Dynamite" - a dub session that sounded off every Monday night for over a decade at Bar Dynamite & The Office Bar. Monsieur Turbeau currently hosts an all vinyl happy hour every first Friday at The Office Bar in North Park and was last seen rocking the Music Box at the Nightmares on Wax show in July.
