                                   Richard Bona Mandekan Cubano

                                         New CD is Heritage

 Richard Bona’s seemingly effortless voice, fierce skills on the bass, unique
songwriting/arranging expertise and ability to learn just about any instrument
simply from watching, position him as a rare African artist to have established an
international reputation that transcends cultural boundaries. His new album is a
compilation of art inspired by the shared heritage, rich folkloric and traditional
music of West Africa and Cuba. Sit back and experience art with a purpose;
Richard Bona and the Mandekan Cubano have carefully crafted a fusion of
sounds, which merge cultures together through their ability to speak the universal
language of music.

“Imagine an artist with Jaco Pastorious’s virtuosity, George Benson’s vocal fluidity, Joao Gilberto’s sense of song and harmony, all mixed up with African culture. Ladies and gentlemen, we bring you Richard Bona!”—Los Angeles Times

    Richard Bona

    World Jazz

    Grammy Award-winning jazz bassist Richard Bona was first inspired to play electric bass by the late Jaco Pastorius.

    The Cameroon-born artist’s balletically light-stepping runs, lazily grooving ostinatos and rhythmic eruptions are what brings in the jazz fans, but it’s Cuban, Brazilian and Caribbean dance music, Afro-beat and African traditional songs gives his music a much broader appeal.

    Having played with such diverse artists such as George Benson, Joe Zawinul and Chaka Khan, it’s with great pleasure that we welcome him back to our stage after a seven year absence.
