Regattabar Presents Berklee Courtyard Series: Manuela Sánchez Goubert
-
Manuela Sánchez Goubert is a Colombian artist who blends jazz with Latin American folk to create a sound that is both rooted and innovative. A Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation Ambassador and graduate of Berklee College of Music, Sánchez Goubert studied at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute under the mentorship of Danilo Pérez.
Deeply committed to social activism, Sánchez Goubert partners with organizations like Temblores ONG to offer free music workshops in schools and shelters across Latin America and the US, using her art to promote education, empowerment, and community healing.
After moving to New York as a teenager, she studied vocal jazz at LaGuardia High School, where she was mentored by Lucía Pulido and Lauren Kinhan. Influenced by Totó La Momposina and Cécile McLorin Salvant, Sánchez Goubert creates music that bridges tradition and sophistication.
She has performed at renowned venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Terraza 7, Regattabar, the Panama Jazz Festival, and Gaira Cumbia House. In 2021, she won a DownBeat Student Music Award and was a finalist in the 2023 Cervantes Institute Spanish Composition Competition at Harvard.
Sánchez Goubert’s band released their debut album, RAÍCES, following an international tour. They are currently at work on a new album and planning their next round of live performances.
