Rea Kapur (she/her) is a Bay Area based comedian, almost professional filmmaker, and devout lesbian who is often described as “the coolest girl in the psych ward.” A regular at the San Jose Improv, Rea has hosted and featured for acclaimed comedians such as Tommy Tiernan, DeAnne Smith, Mark Smalls, Pinky Patel, and the patron saint of mental health comedy, Maria Bamford. Her award-winning, co-created show, “Perversity, Equity, and Inclusion”, sold out at the San Francisco Fringe Festival, featuring an all queer, mostly trans cast. Rea’s brutal honesty and quick wit make her a dazzling, dynamic, and sometimes depressingly relatable comedian. She uses comedy as a means of connection and education, breaking down barriers with laughter to discuss difficult topics and destigmatize mental illness. Though a newcomer to the stand up scene, Rea is quickly rising. (Like literally, she's stoned right now.) She loves MILFS, movies, and amassing new followers on instagram. Make her happy and give her a follow at @reakapur.
