Description
Country music fans, are you still with us?
It’s been a long wait, but we’re excited to announce that our Downtown Country Jam is back! We’re ready to make a triumphant return to historic downtown Fort Dodge on Saturday, October 2nd! To make it a truly special occasion, we’ve dialed in Randy Houser as headliner with Cory Waller & the Wicked Things and Brad Morgan to open. After two years of waiting patiently, we’re ready and raring to put on our DCJ (and we hope you are ready too)!
Randy Houser charted his first hit in 2008 with the song “Anything Goes”. It was a Top 20 hit on the Billboard country singles chart and the title track to his debut album on the same name. That album also produced his first Top 5 hit, “Boots On”. Houser racked up two consecutive #1 hits with his album, “How Country Feels”, including the title track, “How Country Feels” and “Running Outta Moonlight”. That album also yielded a #2 hit in “Goodnight Kiss”. He added a fourth #1 to his catalogue with “We Went” from his 2016 album, “Fire Up”. Other of his hits includes “Whistlin’ Dixie”, “I’m All About It”, “A Man Like Me”, “In God’s Time”, “Like A Cowboy” and “What Whiskey Does”.
The 2021 installment of the Downtown Country Jam will also include two local favorites for opening acts. Brad Morgan will kick off the show at 5:30PM with Cory Waller & the Wicked Things serving as direct support at 6:45PM. Randy Houser is slated to take the stage at 8:30PM. Gates for the event open at 5:00PM. We couldn’t be more pleased with the lineup we have including our opening acts. Our hope is the public comes out in force and supports us so we can continue and grow this event for years to come.”
Tickets for the 2021 Downtown Country Jam go on sale ONLINE Saturday, July 17th (midnight, Friday, July 16th). They will cost $25 on or before Sunday, September 198h increasing to $30 beginning on Monday, September 20th. Should there be any tickets remaining, they will be sold at the gate for $35. With an inimitable voice the New York Times describes as “wholly different, thicker and more throbbing, a caldron bubbling over,” Randy Houser racked up three consecutive No. 1 hits with his album, How Country Feels, plus earned critical acclaim for his powerful delivery of the Top 5 smash and CMA Song of the Year-nominated "Like A Cowboy." Houser added a fourth No. 1 to his catalogue with “We Went” from his 2016 album, Fired Up. Houser’s fourth studio album, Magnolia, marks a new era for the singer/songwriter which many have called “Houser at his best.” Listeners got their first taste of Houser’s criticallyacclaimed rootsy project with the Top 30 hit “What Whiskey Does,” which debuted at Country radio as #1 Most Added and Rolling Stone immediately dubbed “a classic tearsand- twang drinking song.” The album which NPR claims is home to “some of the most expressive performances of his career,” also includes his single, “No Stone Unturned,” a gypsy-hearted traveling song that Whiskey Riff calls “the best song, from the best album of 2019.”
In early 2021 Houser teamed up with good friend Jamey Johnson to share the stage on their unforgettable co-headlining Country Cadillac Tour. The tour, amongst the first routed tours in 2021 consisted of 18 social distanced tour dates and a one-of-a-kind live stream: Live from Graceland from the iconic home of Elvis Presley.
