Description
PANAMA RED IS BACK IN TOWN!
Chickie Wah Wah is thrilled to welcome back our good friend Peter Rowan on Friday March 14th and Saturday March 15th.
Friday night is now the acoustic set—a deep dive into Rowan’s psychedelic bluegrass and folk roots, perfect for fans of “Walls of Time” and the spirit of “Old & In The Way”.
Saturday night, he’s going electric! Maybe we’ll get him to tear into “Sweet Melinda” from his 1980 classic “Texican Badman”—originally featuring Jerry Garcia on electric guitar.
Make no doubt about it, both nights will be nights to remember from this treasure of Americana music. You may know him from his work with Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys, including his classic co-write “Walls of Time.” You may know him from his work with David Grisman, Jerry Garcia, Vassar Clements, and John Kahn in the short-lived but well-loved band Old and in the Way. You may know him as Panama Red. Or the Free Mexican Airforce. His work with Tony Rice?
You may not know him at all. But you should. 7 Grammy nominations in multiple categories so far, and if you ask me he was cheated out of that reggae nomination on the Reggaebilly album. Still makes me mad. He is a musical shape shifter and a singer of the highest order.
We love him here at Chickie Wah Wah. We can’t get enough. Please come join us to celebrate the legendary Peter Rowan. And come both nights. You won’t be disappointed.
