Description
Peter builds, cuts and carves out sound until the creation is something that, when played, pushes the air around you in a way that not just resonates in your ears, but deep down in the soul as well.
Peter and his band, Racing Alone, bring Folk Music into the 21st century with songs of love, life, struggle and joy.
“I believe in the tactility of music. Every song should be sculpted, word by word, note by note and instrument by instrument until its true sound is revealed.”
–Peter Harper

PETER HARPER has never been more ready to get back to touring! The youngest of the three Harper brothers, who grew up in the famous Folk Music Center in Claremont California amongst the guitars, banjos, and musical instruments from around the world, is coming out of this COVID hiatus, with a brand new album, on a new record label, with a new sound, that is captivating and mesmerizing audiences around the world.
Fresh off a triumphant weekend playing multiple stages at BottleRock, the three day music festival in Napa California, and after shows in the SF Bay area, Peter is headed back to Europe for his seventh European tour and the release of his critically acclaimed, third full length album, “Survive”.
“A good artist captures the feeling of a moment. A great artist captures the feeling of an era.”
- Peter Harper
When Peter wrote and recorded his new album “Survive,” there was no global pandemic nor social unrest. Yet, somehow his message of Hope, Strength, Love, and Survival has been the perfect medicine to inspire us forward and help us heal.
On the title track “Survive,” Peter ignites strength and hope with a mesmerizing groove and inspirational lyrics; “No matter what you try to say, Nothin can take this away. I know I am alive and I will survive. I will survive.”
With music and artistic expression in his DNA, early on Peter chose the art of sculpture to express his creativity. As a renowned sculptor his pieces don the collections of stars like Woody Harrelson, Henry Rollins, Laura Dern, Meg Ryan, Danny Devito, Maya Angelou, Danny Trejo, DJ Numark, George Clinton and many more.
A true artist, Peter approaches song writing and making music like sculpting, slowly building one layer of sound waves at a time until the song takes shape and tells a unique story.
On the track “Broken Sound” Peter utilizes his signature tenor guitar combined with a break beat and horn section to create a head nodding groove loaded with lyrics that address social injustice, “I won’t be scattered like some ashes that have grown cold. And I won’t be battered like some slave that has been sold.”
After touring Europe for several years Peter’s fan base has exploded and music industry execs have taken notice landing him with a record deal and home with European label “Space Party” which is owned and operated by Hervé Cocto who is responsible for the European promotion success of smash hits like Luis Fonsi’s “Desposito” and Alice Merton’s “No Roots”.
On the latest single “Heart Shaped Hole,” Peter address the perils of falling so deep in love it feels like you are drowning. There’s an undertone of desperation and love that is so fierce, it makes any listener want to throw him a life raft, pull him out, and then press repeat to watch him jump in all over again.
With the return of live music, Peter is poised and ready to charm audiences. With his engaging performances and sense of humanity, Peter Harper will leave the crowd buzzing with a sense of connection and excitement that is long overdue.
