Description
Two–time GRAMMY Award nominee and a “Rising Star” winner of in DownBeat’s 2016 critics poll, Pat Bianchi has established himself as one of the most in–demand organists on today’s jazz scene today. He has few rivals for his harmonic prowess, rhythmic intensity and versatility – indeed, his complete command of this challenging instrument. Hailing from a family in which his father and grandfathers were professional musicians, Bianchi began classical piano studies in childhood and by age eleven was playing gigs around his hometown of Rochester NY. After graduation from Berklee and several years of seasoning in Denver, he moved to New York for good in 2008 and officially joined saxophonist Lou Donaldson’s quartet the following year. While continuing to play with Lou, Bianchi also joined guitarist Pat Martino’s working trio in 2011 while taking on the responsibilities as musical director. Building on the success of his 2015 recording A Higher Standard, Pat Bianchi’s upcoming CD In The Moment (Savant Records) will feature an array of special guests including guitarists Pat Martino, Peter Bernstein, and Paul Bollenback; vibraphonist Joe Locke, and the late great vocalist Kevin Mahogany (who passed in 2017).
