G Love & Special Sauce
G Love & Special Sauce
Roots Rock
G. Love & Special Sauce is an American Hip-Hop Blues band known for its unique fusion of hip-hop, blues, funk, and soul. Formed in 1993 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the band originally featured Garrett Dutton, aka G. Love, as the lead vocalist and guitarist, Jeffrey Clemens on drums, and Jim Prescott on bass. The trio quickly gained attention for their laid-back, groovy style and G. Loveâs unique vocal delivery, blending rap-like spoken word with bluesy singing.
Their debut self-titled album, G. Love & Special Sauce, was released in 1994 on Epic Records and included the hit single âCold Beverage,â which became popular on alternative radio stations and MTV, solidifying their presence in the music scene. The bandâs style has been described as a mix of âslacker bluesâ and âalternative hip-hop,â as they frequently incorporate elements of 90s hip-hop beats with classic blues rhythms.
Over the years, G. Love & Special Sauce has released numerous albums, including Coast to Coast Motel (1995), Yeah, Itâs That Easy (1997), The Electric Mile (2001) and the GRAMMY nominated The Juice (2020). Their sound evolved to include more soul, R&B, and rock influences, though they retained their laid-back vibe and clever lyrical play. Their 2014 album Sugar saw a reunion of the original lineup after several years, and they continued to tour and produce music with a loyal fan base.
Known for their energetic live performances, G. Love & Special Sauce has played at festivals like Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. Garrett Dutton also frequently collaborates with other artists, including Jack Johnson, with whom he shares a similar vibe, and has released solo projects that dive deeper into his blues influences. G. Love & Special Sauce remains a beloved name in the music scene, blending genres in a way that feels fresh and authentic.

Bearing witness to the accelerating negativity of global affairs, British reggae powerhouse Steel Pulse exemplify musical vengeance to halt the disarray of humanity. The band's twelfth studio production, titled Mass Manipulation, reflects four decades committed to bettering mankind through music. Steel Pulse songs and lyrics continue to engage controversial topics of racial injustice and human rights on a global scale. Themes are as potent and relevant today as they were at the beginning of their career. Hailing from Birmingham, England, Steel Pulse emerged in 1975 with music that provokes thought toward global unification. Songs like âChant a Psalmâ have landed on Rolling Stoneâs Top 200 Best Songs list of the 1980s, and the six-time Grammy nominated group won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album for Babylon the Bandit. Lead singer and guitarist, David Hindsâ creativity, human persona, and visionary views are revealed through inspiring compositions that capture the effects of the African Diaspora. As reggae revolutionaries, Steel Pulse is revered by the younger generation of artists and remains a powerhouse on stages around the globe. Through the example of Mass Manipulation, Steel Pulse demonstrates the endless possibilities that come from breaking down the walls of systemic greed and nurturing the fellowship of mankind.

Hailing from Philadelphia and now based in the vibrant city of Charleston, SC, alt indie hip-hop duo Little Stranger (Kevin and John Shields, no relation but best friends) have spent years honing their signature sound and perfecting their version of the âorganized chaosâ that a Little Stranger live show entails. Between Johnâs melodic singer-songwriter magnetism, Kevinâs in-your-face delivery, and an overall undeniable groove the duo has become known for their unique sound, - garnering millions of streams, playing countless sold-out shows and major festivals like Lollapalooza, Governorâs Ball, Hangout Fest, BottleRock, Levitate Music & Arts Festival, and more.

Mihali
Mihali
Rock
For Mihali, music behaves much like a living being. It grows, it matures, and it changes with a sentient consciousness and with whims of its own. And just like music, the Vermont-based singer, songwriter, guitarist, and co-founder of rock outfit Twiddle continues to evolve, using his gift as one of the strongest modern-day songwriters, guitarists and performers to bring healing vibes and unforgettable songs to the world.
His 2022 record, Effection [released via Ineffable Records], was a ten-track body of work that intertwines reggae spirit, fluid soundscape architecture, and invigorating mantras meant to be chanted aloud in a packed venue. With support from reggae and roots rock mainstays like Iration, Chadwick Stokes (of Dispatch), The Movement, The Elovaters, Jacob Hemphill (of SOJA), and Iya Terra, Effection effectively brought Mihali into the reggae spotlight, landing him on tour with SOJA and G. Love & Special Sauce in 2024.
Continually growing and transforming with his music, Mihali is now ready to release his 3rd studio record, Before The Dream [Expected May 2, 2025 via Ineffable Records], a 14-track journey that delves into his personal psyche and delivers messages about life and vibes meant for a day on the beach or a smoke sesh with friends. Before The Dream once again features numerous huge names in the worlds of reggae, rock and pop music including Little Stranger, Tropidelic, Lily Fangz, G. Love, Brett Dennen, Andy Frasco, Seven Suns, Satsang, and Moon Taxi, whoâs guitarist/producer Spencer Thomson also produced the record (alongside contributions from DENM and Aurorawaveâs Nathan Feinstein).
With a constant touring schedule and new music rolling out on a monthly basis - with more sure to come even after his new record - Mihali continues to expand his reach, touching the hearts and souls of anyone who takes the time to listen.

Cedric Burnside
Cedric Burnside
Rock
The official credit tells it like it is. âRecorded in an old building in Ripley, Mississippiâ â thatâs all the info we get, and all that we need.
When Cedric Burnside prepared to record Hill Country Love, the follow-up to his 2021 Grammy-winning album I Be Trying, he set up shop in a former legal office located in a row of structures in the seat of Tippah County, a town with 5,000 residents thatâs known as the birthplace of the Hill Country Blues style.
âThat building was actually going to be my juke joint. Everything was made out of wood, which made the sound resonate like a big wooden box,â said Burnside. He called up producer Luther Dickinson (co-founder of the acclaimed North Mississippi Allstars and the son of legendary Memphis producer/musician Jim Dickinson), who brought recording equipment into the empty space. âWe recorded in the middle of a bunch of rubbish â wood everywhere and garbage cans,â Burnside says. âWe just laid everything out the way and recorded the album right there.â
The 14 songs on the record were finished in two days, but in addition to being satisfied with the sound, Burnside believes that Hill Country Love represents real creative progress. âEvery time I write an album, it's always different,â he says. âI'm always looking to express myself a little bit better than I did on the last one and talk about more things happen in my life. I think that every day that youâre able to open your eyes, life is gonna throw you something to write about and to talk about.
