Peace comes through struggle. It’s a reward that’s earned rather than simply given. It’s the product of tireless work and an unbreakable spirit against all odds and opposition. OTHERWISE are no strangers to that struggle, rising up to become rock ‘n’ roll contenders in the face of a tumultuous musical climate and a series of personal hardships.

The Las Vegas hard alternative rock quintet—Adrian Patrick [vocals], Ryan Patrick [guitar/vocals], Corky Gainsford [drums/vocals], Vassilios Metropoulos [bass], & Andrew Pugh [guitar/vocals]—catalog the next chapter of this journey on their second full-length album, Peace At All Costs [Century Media Records].

The ride starts with that very title. Adrian explains, “Our grandmother used to always say it. Peace At All Costs is a double entendre. We interpret the phrase as, ‘Give us peace, or we’ll take it from you.’ The whole point of us being on this musical odyssey is our search for peace. We want to do something impactful in the world, and we’re not going to stop. We’re starting with ourselves first. It’s about finding inner peace and restoring equilibrium within yourself. Music allows us to do that.”

Their music has given countless fans worldwide the same outlet. By 2014, the band’s debut True Love Never Dies moved nearly 60,000 copies and spawned close to 300,000 single sales of the hits “Soldiers,” “I Don’t Apologize (1000 Pictures),” and “Die For You.” The group toured alongside heavy hitters such as Stone Sour, Papa Roach and Three Days Grace, and gave rousing performances at high-profile festivals including Rock On The Range, Aftershock, Rocklahoma, Carolina Rebellion, and Welcome To Rockville. However, Peace At All Costs raises the stakes across the board for the Vegas outfit.

In order to convey their message palpably and potently, OTHERWISE teamed up with iconic producer David Bottrill [Tool, Muse, Staind, Stone Sour]. Holing up in Vegas View Studios, the boys pushed themselves immensely with Bottrill’s wisdom and encouragement.

“He really did contribute to the vibe of the album,” Adrian goes on. “Whether it was changing the tempo from section to section or altering the key, David brought these new ideas to the fold, and you can hear them in each and every song. From top to bottom, the album has a lot of personality because of his contributions.”

The musicians also had the chance to experience the other side of their hometown while recording. Vegas View Studios sits on the edge of the Las Vegas Valley, offering a stunning panorama of the wilderness surrounding the city. “It was the most beautiful view,” affirms the singer. “Most recording studios are like casinos. There are no windows. You go in, and you have no idea what time it is. We had a beautiful vista of our hometown, and it lent to inspiration every night we were working.”

That lush expanse carries over into the first single “Darker Side of the Moon.” Building from a thick distorted guitar into a robust melody, the song blasts off on a hypnotic and hard-hitting hook, opening up the doorway into Peace At All Costs.

“I’ve always been fascinated with the moon ever since I was a kid,” affirms Adrian. “I’m still drawn to it as a grown-up. I find myself lost in it without even knowing what I’m doing sometimes. We’ve faced a lot of tragedies and dark times, and that song represents us. We’re always going to try and look for the light in the darkness. We’ll thrive there if we have to. There’s a whole dark side of th

    The Black Moods

    Rock

The Black Moods play raw, amplified rock & roll.

Born in the Arizona desert and reared on stages across North America, the band delivers a modern update of a timeless sound, breathing fresh life into a familiar mix of electric guitars, anthemic hooks, and percussive stomp. The Black Moods' three members — frontman/guitarist Josh Kennedy, drummer Chico Diaz and bassist Jordan Hoffman — aren't looking to reinvent the wheel. Instead, they're piling into a vehicle that's existed for decades, souping up the engine to suit their contemporary needs, and steering those wheels toward their own rock & roll horizon.
The band formed in Tempe, Arizona. Inspired by local heroes like the Gin Blossoms and Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers — both of whom have become champions of the Black Moods, often tapping the group as a high-profile opening act — The Black Moods began building their audience the old-school way: by hitting the road. They toured heavily, promoting albums like their 2012 self-titled debut and 2016's Medicine with gigs across the country. By the time "Bella Donna" hit the radio airwaves during the summer of 2018, The Black Moods' fanbase had grown exponentially. The song became a Top 40 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, paving the way for the band's biggest shows to date.
Modern-day torchbearers of ageless rock & roll, The Black Moods aren't shy about nodding to their influences. "Bella Donna" was partially inspired by the Doors' slinky strut, while the climatic chorus of "Bad News" points to alt-rock mainstays like the Foo Fighters. With one boot planted in the same ground as their influences and the other pointed toward unexplored territory, The Black Moods blaze their own path while still paying tribute to those who came before them.
Both "Bella Donna" and "Bad News" were recorded with Grammy Award-nominated producer Johnny "K" Karkazis, who flew to Phoenix and set up a makeshift studio in the band's own rehearsal space. There, in the same practice facility once shared by hometown heroes like the Refreshments, the band funneled the spirit and swagger of their live show into their most dynamic recordings to date. That live show — which The Black Moods sharpened with cross-country tours alongside the Doors' Robbie Krieger, Shinedown, Jane's Addiction, Eve 6, Cracker, and numerous other headliners — has always been one of the band's strongest selling points. Now, thanks to singles like "Bella Donna" (which also lends its name to the first wine in The Black Moods' wine series), The Black Moods' fury and fire onstage is matched by their electricity on record.
The band's name is The Black Moods. And these days, those black moods are looking pretty bright.

    Rock

The Iowa based hard rock band SAUL is the result of a profound passion for music shared by brothers Blake and Zach Bedsaul. They always knew music would be their life and worked tirelessly to develop a sound that pushes the boundaries of modern rock music. SAUL places a great amount of focus on writing songs that mean something. Forming their sonic inspiration listening to bands like Tool, Pearl Jam, Nothing More, and Tesseract, the band went through a few lineup changes after high school, but the sound was starting to take shape. Blake and Zach had a vision and kept writing and working tirelessly until they brought that vision to life. That vision is a sound that is both modern and precise, but also chaotic and turbulent. SAUL has now rounded out its lineup to include William McIlravy (Bass guitar/Backup Vocals), Joe Nichols (Drums), Blake Bedsaul (Lead Vocals), and Zach Bedsaul (Lead Guitar/Backup Vocals). Everyone shares the same passion and the music reflects their chemistry as a band. SAUL is already gaining massive amounts of attention in their home state of Iowa and beyond. Bringing in new fans with every performance, you can hear the soul of the music and get lost in its timeless, aggressive, and haunting melodies. Set to release their debut studio effort (AEONS) in the spring 2019, SAUL isn’t holding anything back. The first single is an emotional roller coaster about death and the struggles of dealing with loss. "Brother” is the embodiment of the band and its message. It is how music should be. It's real, raw, aggressive and satiated with intent. Front-man Blake Bedsaul states the following in regards to the new single, “Lyrically, this song defines what I should have said to my brother in his last moments. This song cuts deep for me and It’s a constant reminder that life is fleeting. Tell the people in your life that you love them.” On January 24th, 2019 SAUL plans to announce their arrival by not just tapping you on the shoulder, but punching you in the face with their lead single, "Brother". Keep an ear out for the track on radio airwaves nationwide.
