This summer, Olivia O’Brien will step back into the light with her highly anticipated sophomore album, PIXIE. The 15-track project showcases her strongest and most honest songwriting yet, presaging this chapter as her most authentic and assured to date.
With over 2.3 billion aggregate global streams, Olivia O’Brien has built a catalog that continues to resonate with listeners around the world. She first gained widespread attention with her cover of Avril Levigne’s “complicated,” which amassed over 388 million streams. Just a year later, she released “hate u love u” alongside gnash, a breakout hit that has surpassed 1.5 billion global streams, peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and earned RIAA Gold certification. Olivia later released a version featuring just her vocals, which accrued over 490 million Spotify streams and further cemented the song as one of the defining pop records of its era.
In 2020, Olivia’s emotionally charged breakup anthem “Josslyn” became another watershed moment in her career, amassing over 220 million streams, and paving the way for appearances on culturally lauded podcasts like Call Her Daddy and The Zach Sang Show. Her work and trajectory have been profiled extensively by publications like NYLON, Billboard, COVETEUR, and PAPER, among others.
In 2024, Olivia’s EP everywhere i go, there i am represented a creative turning point in her career, shifting from traditional pop to a more textured, indie-leaning sound. The project examines the growing pains of early adulthood, internal contradiction, and the old versions of ourselves that we shed with age, and signified a new commitment to creating music that fully reflected Olivia’s own identity and artistic agency.
With PIXIE, Olivia O’Brien turns the page with clarity and conviction, stepping into a chapter that feels less like a reinvention and more like a true arrival.
