Formed in 1990, The Norm Hathaway Big Band revives the music of the Swing Era in an authentic style. They are a traditional 18-piece orchestra playing songs from the Great American Songbook, focusing on jazz from the 1920s to the love songs of the 1930s and '40s.

Their repertoire includes classics by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, and Benny Goodman, along with Latin tunes and unique arrangements by their late music director Vince Corozine.

The Swing Era's influence is still seen in contemporary artists like Michael Buble, Harry Connick Jr., and Michael Feinstein.

They've performed throughout the NY metro area, including multiple appearances at the world-famous Iridium on Broadway, “New York’s Best Jazz Club”, the Celebration for the 100th digital short for Saturday Night Live, the Yorktown Stage Theater, The Peekskill Music Festival, the Amber Room, Le Chateau, and the Hammond Museum. They have played galas, private parties, and fundraisers for Founders Hall of Ridgefield, CT, The American Heart Assoc., Guiding Eyes for the Blind, the Historical Society of Piermont, and many Fourth of July Celebrations for the Town of Carmel.

The musicians have honed their talents as members of esteemed groups such as the Air Force Band of The East, Bobby Rydell, Little Anthony, Percy Sledge, The Austrian Boys, Die Spitzbuam, the 3PM Jazz Quartet, The Cuff Links, Wall Street, Eclipse, Rock Culture, Guava Lava, the Joe Battaglia NY Big Band, Barbara Harris & the Toys, Bearcats Jazz Band, Cold Springs Depot Dixie Band, the Carmen Leggio groups, the Richard Thomas Big Band, the Bob Button Big Band, the Hudson Valley Symphonic Wind Ensemble and others. Several members are also music teachers, at the Westchester Music Conservatory or at NY and CT high schools. In their 35th year, the NHBB has never been better!
