Nonagon is a raucous, three-piece, music concern from Chicago that’s been playing together since the early-to-mid aughts. We play a collection of loud, short songs with varied time signatures and unconventional hooks. Our sporadic recorded output consists of…2008’s “No Sun”, 2012’s “People Live Everywhere”, 2013’s “The Last Hydronaut”, 2020’s “They Birds”. Our names are… Tony Aimone (who played in The Blue Meanies, Taylor, and The J. Davis Trio), Robert Gomez (who played in Der Lugomen, is one-oneth of Martian Law, and is an accomplished visual artist), and John Hastie (who played in bands called Jumpknuckle, Black Lung, Freighter, and The Metric System). Purely for the sake of context, we occasionally find ourselves compared to the likes of Fugazi, Jawbox, Naked Raygun, Drive Like Jehu, The Jesus Lizard, etc… all of which is deeply flattering but makes some sense given our influences and vintage.

Terminus Victor delivers a beautiful kick in the gut.  A heavy and dynamic soundscape of unique rock music is delivered in a wall of sound by this thunderous trio that sounds larger than the sum of three parts. "One of the best bands in the land. Call it an asset, or call it a liability, Or Does It Explode is not easily captured within one genre label. For them, creating music is not simply about having a particular sound; it is about capturing the human experience in ways that words oftentimes fail. The emotions we feel range from joy to sadness or melancholia, to anger and frustration, to helplessness. So too, then, do the songs of oDiE. This means that one song may find them tapping into Midwest Emo twinkly guitar sounds, another relying on Post-Hardcore screaming, dissonant chords, and angular rhythms, and another creating a Progressive-adjacent scope of changes to time signature or tempo. What is always present is honesty and sincerity to what is being expressed.

Mutated from the chaos cloud that engulfed the early 2020's, John Gaetano and Tim Chambers locked themselves away within their Bridgeport, Chicago panic-room audio-sensory laboratory. Their broad atmospheric range of sonic vibrant highs and melancholy melodic lows reminds us to ...stop and smell the roses ... before lighting them on fire.
