TWO-TIME GRAMMY® AWARD WINNER NICOLE ZURAITIS RETURNS TO BIRDLAND MONDAY, JANUARY 4, 2027, AT 7 PM
NEW YORK, NY — Birdland will present two-time GRAMMY® Award-winning and six-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer-songwriter, pianist and composer Nicole Zuraitis on Monday, January 4, 2027, at 7 PM.
A distinctive voice in contemporary jazz, Zuraitis combines powerhouse vocals, inventive arrangements and personal storytelling with an expansive approach to songwriting. Her work bridges jazz, folk and contemporary vocal traditions, reflecting what she calls the “modern songbook.” She is also the founder of the Modern Songbook Society, an organization dedicated to championing living singer-songwriters and expanding the contemporary jazz repertoire.
Zuraitis has released seven albums as a leader and written more than 80 original songs. Her album How Love Begins, co-produced with eight-time GRAMMY® Award winner Christian McBride, received the 2024 GRAMMY® Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album. She is the only artist to win the award for an album composed entirely of music she wrote and arranged herself.
Her songwriting has earned multiple GRAMMY® nominations, including recognition for “Little Fears,” co-written with her husband, drummer and composer Dan Pugach. She also wrote “Always” for Teyana Taylor’s 2025 GRAMMY® Award-nominated album Escape Room. Her album Live at Vic’s Las Vegas, which she produced, wrote and arranged, received two GRAMMY® nominations in 2026. Her latest release, The Devil I Knew, produced by Larry Klein, was released July 17, 2026.
Zuraitis has appeared at the Newport Jazz Festival, Tanglewood, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s, Birdland, Dizzy’s Club and the Blue Note. Her collaborators include Christian McBride, Tom Scott, Jerry Hey, Keyon Harrold, Vince Mendoza and Dan Pugach.
A Gold Medal winner of the American Traditions Vocal Competition, Zuraitis serves on the vocal faculty at New York University and holds an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Post University. Across her work as a performer, composer, arranger, producer and bandleader, she brings humor, candor and musical range to the evolving language of vocal jazz.
