Description
MV WELLS:
Equally inspired by the pop hits of Burt Bacharach and the snarly wit of early Stiff Records releases, MV WELLS is a Midwestern singer-songwriter self-described as, “a cocktail lounge act gone awry.” Backed by drummer Joshua Wells [Lightning Dust/Destroyer] and bassist Sadman Rahman, WELLS and his comrades utilize a depth and variety of styles (jazz, bossa nova, R&B, disco) to punch out hooky, sneering pop tunes that will delight freaks, beatniks, and squares alike!
Accessory [solo]:
Accessory is the solo moniker of Jason Balla. Between time touring and writing with his other project Dehd, Balla explores the darker, more nuanced side of life across his self-recorded catalog. Following the CS release of Blue Tape (2018) came a string of singles— Eyes for Berlin (2020), Together (2020), a collaboration with Bnny and in 2023, Wherever You Are Tonight. Falling somewhere between John Cale, Broadcast and Women, the new single reveals a preview of what’s to come from this Chicago native.
Desert Liminal [solo]: For Chicago-based musician Sarah Jane Quillin, Desert Liminal is a vehicle for experimental songwriting that centers dream-like poetry and melody within a cloud of layered analog synth textures. Desert Liminal's 2021 vinyl debut on Whited Sepulchre Records sold out its pressing, and the full band performed on bills with notable genre-adjacent acts like Midwife, Deserta, and Laraaji, as well as live on NPR's WBEZ. A follow-up LP is forthcoming in 2024.
