Music On The Move:

Created and hosted by rising Country singer/songwriter Erin McLendon, Music on The Move (formerly Women on Fire) serves as a pivotal platform for local female musicians and entrepreneurs to share their talents.

Backed by the all-female band The HellCals, and featuring locally and female-owned small businesses, the event has become a unique celebration of the female entrepreneur in Nashville!

McLendon, the driving force behind Music on The Move Studios, was inspired by all of the talented women who don’t get enough credit in Nashville.

“I wanted to create a collaborative space that wasn’t just country or pop; I wanted to have something that is open to all genres,” McLendon says.

Having taken many forms since its inception in 2019, Music on The Move is proud to have been featured at iconic venues such as Exit/In, Marathon Music Works, City Winery, The Basement East, and now 3rd & Lindsley!

Since the pandemic, Music on The Move Studios has evolved into a musical ecosystem, encapsulating not only the all-female showcase but also a virtual music education studio, a podcast, Paradox Jukebox, and a daily blog. Co-Founders Erin McLendon & Caitie Thompson strive to find ways to lift the veil on the music industry in all aspects. From the aspiring musician, to the behind the scenes of the business side, all the way to the pros!

A Special Tribute to Larysa Jaye

Larysa Jaye was an incredibly talented country singer/songwriter who first came to the Music on The Move community in 2021 when she performed with the HellCats at City Winery during our socially distanced acoustic shows. She then went on to become a force in Nashville, advocating for diversity and inclusion in country music through her music and involvement in The Recording Academy, Country Music’s OnRamp program, Black Music Action Coalition, and the Black Opry. She was the first black woman to earn a residency on a Broadway stage, performing every Friday at the 12/30 club.

Larysa unfortunately passed unexpectedly in December of 2024 in a car accident. We want to honor the legacy she left behind by continuing to support her music with a performance by some of her friends and former Music on The Move performers, Lauren Anderson, Katie Basden, and Jenny Teator.

Melody Walker is a GRAMMY-winning songwriter, producer, performer, and fervent believer that songs can change the world. Best known for her writing with Molly Tuttle, Sierra Ferrell, Della Mae and her own band Front Country, Melody’s post-2020 recalibration has found her finally digging into her home of Nashville, TN, co-writing with her talented neighbors and hosting a weekly writers’ round, Writers’ Kitchen in East Nashville. Her blend of grassroots pop has won her accolades from Merlefest to Telluride and now the GRAMMYs with three songs on Sierra Ferrell’s GRAMMY-winning album Trail of Flowers, including winner of the Best American Roots Song “American Dreaming” and co-writes on Molly Tuttle’s GRAMMY-winning albums Crooked Tree and City of Gold. Recent years have found Melody releasing her first solo music in a decade, stepping into her own as a songwriter and artist and finding magic in queer collaboration. Whether teaching at music camps or playing Newport Folk Fest and the Kennedy Center with her Grateful Dead drag band BERTHA, Melody is ready to ride whatever cosmic creative waves the universe sends her way.

Caryn Dixon's journey to country music stardom exemplifies the power of perseverance and dedication. From her early days performing on small stages in central Pennsylvania to touring the East Coast and Midwest, Dixon has steadily built her career through unwavering commitment. Her musical journey began at age seven, writing songs and singing in children's choirs, laying the foundation for a diverse skill set in performing, songwriting, and recording.

Dixon's breakthrough came in late 2023 with the release of her debut single, "Print Your Name and Sign," produced by The Pear (April Rose Gabrielle and Jacob Klick). The impactful song earned her guest spots on podcasts focused on helping women move on from toxic relationships. Her follow-up single, "Here I Am," produced by Gabe Neal and Justin Frech, achieved significant success, landing on Spotify Editorial playlists such as Viral Hits and Mood Playlisting, reaching a combined audience of over 12 million listeners. Recognition quickly followed, with features in prominent country music publications such as Cowgirl Magazine and The Women of Country Magazine. Dixon has also collaborated with some of Nashville's top songwriters, and is current on a release schedule of two songs per month with lots of exciting things on the horizon.

If the coined phrase “Girls just wanna have fun” were a person, well, you’d be staring into the eyes of the country’s own up-and-comer Erin McLendon.

A brilliant combination of sweet and bold with a witty edge, her music can be described as a modern country with a twist. As a Nashville veteran, the North Carolina native loves to toe the line of genres, making sure that even though her inspiration may come from all around, her sound is uniquely her own brand of country music.
