One of this city’s musical success stories is the dark and heavy rock duo Mr. Gnome. Over the last few years, Mr.Gnome has built a rep in music media (Bust, Magnet, Esquire, Rolling Stone, we could go on) for not just their explosive live shows but their distinctive discography. Their latest release is the special-order single “Softly Mad”, available on vinyl and in digital format. Live, Mr. Gnome sounds like the soundtrack to childlike playground dementia, starting with movements akin to lullabies that often end in a beautiful tangle of ear-scouring guitars and shattered drum heads. After this special holiday show, Mr. Gnome will be hitting the road hard once again, straying willfully far from trends but willfully onto the darker side of rock. Akron instrumental group If These Trees Could Talk. Charming, catchy, and occasionally ass-kickingly funky, Leau Lou & The 2 Left Shoes open.
