Monsieur Periné is a musical laboratory led by Catalina García and Santiago Prieto Sarabia, both born and raised in Colombia. Their unique and eclectic proposal blends genres such as pop, jazz, and swing with Latin American sounds like guaracha, salsa, cumbia, and bolero, always exploring new ways of speaking about the world, love, and freedom.
The project was born in 2007 and quickly established itself as one of the most innovative groups in the region. Their debut album, Hecho a Mano (2012), paved the way for international recognition that was solidified with Caja de Música (2015), which earned the Latin GRAMMY® for Best New Artist. Since then, they have received multiple nominations at both the Latin GRAMMY® Awards (including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Song) and the GRAMMY® Awards (USA) in the category of Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album (2016 and 2019).
In 2018, they released Encanto Tropical, which included the hit “Bailar Contigo,” with over 150 millions streams in platforms and over 65 million views on YouTube. During the pandemic, in 2021, they achieved unprecedented global recognition when “Nuestra Canción” went viral, reaching #1 on both the TikTok U.S. Chart and the Spotify Global Viral Chart, accumulating more than 2 billion views and over 2 million uses in videos worldwide.
Their fourth album, Bolero Apocalíptico (2023), further solidified their artistic reputation, earning them the Latin GRAMMY® for Best Alternative Music Album. A year later, in 2024, they were part of some of the most notable releases in Latin music with tracks such as “Hora Loca” alongside Rawayana, and “Catalina” with Cimafunk and Fux Beat—the latter nominated for Record of the Year at the 25th Latin GRAMMY® Awards.
In 2025, they kicked off the year with a sold-out show at Carnegie Hall in New York and appearances at major international festivals such as Montreux Festival (Miami), Tecate Pa’l Norte (Mexico), and the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Throughout their career, they have toured the world with their live band, performing on stages and at festivals such as Rock in Rio, Lollapalooza (Chicago and Chile), Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, Fusion Festival Berlin, Estéreo Picnic (Bogotá), and Cosquín Rock (Argentina), among many others.
Now, almost two decades after its founding, Monsieur Periné begins a new chapter with its upcoming album Instructions to Be Happy (expected on April 30, 2026), a project that reaffirms its ability to evolve and reinvent itself within contemporary Latin music and from which it has already released three singles: the controversial electronic guaracha "Aguaráchate", the song "Grande" together with the collective Piso 21 and the hit "El avión" in which, together with the legendary Carlos Vives, they raise their voices about the problem of migration.
