MICROTIGER
Microtiger is a collection of musical bipeds whose sole purpose is to honor the musical traditions of reggae, cumbia, and jazz. As six-piece with drums, dubby bass, screaming electric guitars, trumpet, alto sax and a powerhouse vocalist they are guaranteed to bring the heat. These cats' musical bonds first formed in the underbelly of the San Jose State University's Jazz Department. During the heat of the pandemic, when all musical ensembles were shut down, they turned their attention to writing original music, and Microtiger was born. With a focus on improvisational prowess, their conjunction creates a joyful, jammy mix of familiar tunes, fresh solos, and ear-worming originals. Imagine Groundation and Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings had a love child then hired a nanny who was a folk-punk poet. That is the closest you can get to describing this sonic experience.
