We said it when they were here last year, and we'll say it again -- come "stop the world and melt" with the Empty Bottle and UK post-punk legends MODERN ENGLISH. These fellas are returning to America and couldn't miss out on a stop at The Empty Bottle. "We won't play anywhere else" they may or may not have said after that memorable show back in May of 2016. In case you've been living under a rock your whole life, MODERN ENLGISH are an English rock band best remembered for their songs "I Melt with You," "Hands Across the Sea," and "Ink and Paper". The group disbanded for a period in 1991, but later recorded in 1995 with some new members. The original members reformed in 2009 and began touring again at the beginning of last year and we're all better for it. Do not miss this massive show!

Last Fall, GANSER’s This Feels Like Living saw the band exploring new edges of their post-punk roots. Keeping their ambivert energy, they began investigating more angular territory. Occasionally leaving earlier synth elements behind completely, with no wave touches joining their original influences like Sad Lovers and GiantsGary Numan, and others.

Both TFLL and the advance a/b single Pyrrhic Victory saw positive reception and premieres from outlets like Consequence of SoundStereogumAfropunk,CVLT Nation, and others. Since then, the song “Strategies for Living” was featured along with Mount Eerie and others on Gezellig Record’s compilation Is There Another Language benefitting the ACLU, featured in PitchforkSpinAV Club, and other publications. Their first full length, Odd Talk, will be released in 2018.

Modern English are an English rock band best remembered for their songs "I Melt with You," "Hands Across the Sea," and "Ink and Paper". The group disbanded for a period in 1991, but later recorded in 1995 with some new members.  The original members reformed in 2009 and are currently touring with plans for a new release in 2016!

Formed in Colchester, Essex, England, in 1979 by Robbie Grey (vocals), Gary McDowell (guitar, vocals), and Michael Conroy (bass, vocals), Modern English were originally known as The Lepers. The group expanded to "Modern English" when Richard Brown (drums) and Stephen Walker (keyboards) were subsequently added to the line-up of the band.

"Dissociative shouts and murmurs" is what Ganser's Facebook page says, and those traits can certainly be found in their recordings. The Chicago-based group embraces post-punk, early synth music, and weird vacuum noises. Ganser formed as a DIY duo in 2014, incorporating driving bass and drums with anxious guitars and swelling synths, making bright black music for deep space transmissions and panic attacks. Ganser is Alicia Gaines, Nadia Garofalo, Brian Cundiff, and Charlie Landsman.
