Description
Meet Michael the Band: a symbiotic duo from Seattle who come together to create a new harmonious fusion of sound that defies convention.
Mike Vernon Davis: Rising star producer/multi-instrumentalist who helped shape Pool Kids’ critically acclaimed self-titled 2022 LP and Great Grandpa’s 2019 breakout, Four of Arrows. Writing and recording music was Mike’s passion from a very young age. He eventually found his true beat under the mentorship of legendary producer Steve Fisk. From there, it has been an unstoppable ascent, starting with an internship at the Modest Mouse studio "Ice Cream Party." A cold-call led to an apprenticeship with Chris Walla, formerly of Death Cab for Cutie, that evolved into MIke's role as the primary studio engineer / producer at Walla's “The Hall of Justice” studio in Seattle.
Harry Michael Smith: Enigmatic, spiritual wanderer dedicated to creating beautiful things. Harry is a talented songwriter, vocalist and musician and a stalwart of the Seattle indie scene. As a skilled designer / contractor Harry has had an instrumental role in physically building the infrastructure of the Seattle music production community, one studio at a time: notably Andy Park’s “The Crumb” and Trevor Spencer’s “The Way Out.” He is a rugged poet with the soul of a revolutionary who is not afraid to speak his heart and mind, come what may.
As Michael the Band, these two longtime friends and collaborators have finally come together to unleash ideas that have been percolating for years. Listeners will hear a shared and unrelenting quest for authenticity and attention to detail in every song. From sweeping, shifting cinematic scores that recall David Bowie, The Cure or Peter Gabriel to bright, multi-layered pop tunes ala Arcade Fire or MGMT, Michael the Band seeks to take you on a thought-provoking journey with impeccably crafted music that is just enough familiar to make it easy to slip into something completely new.

Pop-Soul
La Fonda
La Fonda
Pop-Soul
La Fonda is an indie rock band fronted by Filipino-American sisters, Valerie and Veronica Topacio. Centering their songs around themes of sisterhood and navigating the chaos of adolescence, addiction, xenophobia, and gentrification––to name a few––La Fonda creates sonically atmospheric, shoegaze-inspired tracks falling somewhere between dream-pop and alt-rock.
Their sophomore album We Are Infinite dives heart-first into the emotional depths of their journey so far and explores the struggles of living paycheck-to-paycheck in their hometown of Seattle. Valerie and Veronica are joined by guitarist Jesse Cole, bassist Bryan Dever, and drummer Jacob Whinihan to round out their dreamy indie rock sound. Their debut album, New Self, Old Ways, landed early 2021 and since, the band has opened for a myriad of artists like Snail Mail and Alvvays.
The summer of 2015 found Veronica and Valerie writing songs and busking at Pike Place Market, after growing up in a musical family where singing in the living room was a regular affair. Magic blossomed when they connected with guitarist Jesse Cole, a friend from their past, whose guitar style mixed seamlessly with their harmonies. The Sisters then met bass player Bryan Dever who instantly recognized the importance of their friendship and talent. Shortly after, Bryan’s boyhood pal Patrick Hodge blessed the ensemble by joining on the Keys. As with many budding groups, the throne behind the drums saw several friends come and go. It wasn’t until after three years in that fate and proximity would lead them to Jacob Whinihan (Special Explosion) as their percussionist, joining the band in the spring of 2019 before launching on a month-long tour down the west coast to SxSW.
Since the lineup met it’s completion, fires of inspiration and love have erupted among them, fueling their light on stage and in the studio. Having just completed their debut album due out in 2021, and cemented in comradery, La Fonda looks to their music as a compass to help guide themselves and their fans. It’s their hope that their story-telling surrounding the themes of love and friendship inspire their collective of listeners to fight through moments of compounding disarray, transition and struggle by showing up as our strongest, most authentic, and truest selves.
