San diego four-piece Blossom has returned with “Garden of Words,” a sprawling, melancholic Shoegaze track. in their first offering in over a year, lead singer Mateo Ruiz reflects on the feeling of powerlessness as time slips away like grains of sand through your fingers. ruiz channels this raw vulnerability as he sings, “watched time stand still / days go on till / you sang the words that i wanted to.” with syrupy vocals, fuzzed-out guitars, and an expansive soundscape, Blossom blends the best elements of shoegaze and alternative rock to carve out a sonic lane of their own. crafted between show runs with indie rock legends LSD and the Search for God and rising alternative trio Clarion, “Garden of Words” is confirmation that blossom is a true rising star in modern Shoegaze.
