Formed in Los Angeles by guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Chad Ubovich, Meatbodies have become one of the defining acts in the modern West Coast psych-garage underground. Blending fuzzed-out riffs, heavy psych, punk energy, and sprawling neo-psychedelic textures, the band channels influences ranging from classic garage rock and proto-metal to noise rock and cosmic psychedelia.
Ubovich first gained recognition through his work with fellow California psych luminaries including Fuzz, Ty Segall, and Mikal Cronin before launching Meatbodies as a more experimental and deeply personal creative outlet. Originally performing under the name “Chad and the Meatbodies,” the project evolved into a full band and released its self-titled debut in 2014 via In the Red Records — a record praised for its explosive mix of garage punk hooks, molten guitar work, and psychedelic sprawl.
