Maui Pranksters - Let It Rock!
The Maui Pranksters play both kinds of music - that of the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia. Headed by guitar-wielding, band leader Troll Garcia, the Pranksters’ performances and spirit serve as a powerful catalyst, creating a joyous, judgement free environment that breaks through today’s pop culture and declares “all are welcome” and “love and community are paramount.”
It’s a continuation of the culture fostered by Ken Kesey’s Merry Pranksters, the Warlocks, Grateful Dead and Deadheads, and a recognition of the wonderful opportunity provided by the foundation of Hawaiʻi and Maui communities, aloha.
In recent years, the Maui Pranksters’ headlight has grown bright, shining through Maui’s mountain rains and deep valleys in grand fashion thanks to countless shows, including escapades at Joey ‘Electric’s’ glorious New Year’s Eve parties, that have left the coconut wireless fully lit.
The Maui Pranksters’ March 13 concert at Blue Note Hawaiʻi is their debut performance in Waikīkī - bright lights, big city - leaving the Pranksters with only one choice of what to do.
LET IT ROCK!

Jam Bands
For over 15 years, guitarist and singer Troll Garcia has led the Maui Pranksters on a cosmic ride filled with heart, laughter and dancing. This improvisational rock band brings a unique flavor of fun-loving chaos to the stage, delving into both exploratory jams and sly musings that prove music hits harder when you don’t take yourself too seriously.
Raised in a small, rural town outside of Gainesville, Florida, Troll’s life forever changed when he happened into a Grateful Dead concert at age 17. Shortly thereafter, Troll hopped on the bus and stayed on the bus for years, fully immersing himself in the Deadhead community and culture while soaking in hundreds of shows. After the passing of Jerry Garcia, Troll found himself drawn to the stage, logging decades of time as a touring musician.
Today, when Troll steps up to the microphone fronting the Maui Pranksters, he does so armed with tremendous musical knowledge and passion along with a fantastic band. His spirit epitomizes the Grateful Dead and its many branches, giving audiences an opportunity to transport themselves to the root of all the goodness.
