Grammy Award nominated singer/songwriter Matt Cusson will make his Birdland solo debut on the historic stage on Monday, April 7 at 7pm! He will be joined by Andy Sorenson on guitar, Tim Weisman on bass, and Jonathan Barber on drums.
The show will include original songs from Matt’s soon-to-be-released third album, including the newest single “She Don’t Mind.” He will also perform the original tune that won the John Lennon Songwriting Award, “Every Step,” as well as covers like “Heart to Heart” by Kenny Loggins, and “How Deep is Your Love” by The Bee Gees.
Matt Cusson, a Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter/pianist/producer, has played all over the world with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Megan Hilty, James and Livingston Taylor, Dave Koz, Christina Aguilera, Anderson Paak, Leslie Odom Jr., and many more. Matt will be joined by drummer Jonathan Barber (Pat Metheny), guitarist Andy Sorenson (Albert Lee, Peter Asher), and bassist Tim Weisman (Dom Mclennon, Similar Kind).

Matt Cusson - An Award-winning singer/songwriter and pianist excelling in Jazz, Pop and Soul. In 2009, he wrote and arranged his critically acclaimed self-titled debut album which featured the single "One of These Nights." That same year, "One of These Nights" won (by unanimous vote) the John Lennon Songwriting Contest's top annual prize entitled "Maxell Song of the Year", the Billboard Songwriting Award in the Best Jazz Song category and 2nd Place in the International Songwriting Competition. In 2011, he was nominated by the Los Angeles Music Award's for “Best Male Vocalist” and “Best Jazz Song”.
Cusson was educated at Berklee College of Music where he performed in the exclusive "Singer Showcase" highlighting the school's Top 8 singers. His influences include James Taylor, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, Djavan, Miles Davis and John Mayer. Matt has performed on-stage with Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, the Roots, Babyface, Brian McKnight, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Shoshana Bean, Jake Simpson, Livingston Taylor and many more.
A three-time Amateur Night at The Apollo winner and featured performer in the international Micheal Jackson - Man In The Mirror tour, Matt has performed on Live with Regis and Kelly with Brian McKnight, ABC's The View, Bravo's Millionaire Matchmaker singing "Here's To You and Me" penned by Cusson, ABC's Rachael Ray Show with Megan Hilty and as musical guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Currently, Cusson is performing regularly with Megan Hilty (NBC's Sean Saves the World & Smash), Javier Colon (winner of NBC's The Voice) and collaborating/touring with his mentor - Grammy Award-nominee Brian McKnight.
