  • Mating Ritual

    Mating Ritual

    Indie Rock

Mating Ritual is an independent pop duo based in Los Angeles, California. Previously known as Pacific Air, Ryan Marshall Lawhon founded Mating Ritual in 2014 when his brother Taylor decided to go back to school. Though initially a solo project, Mating Ritual became increasingly more collaborative leading up to his debut album, 2017’s How You Gonna Stop It?, released on Ryan’s own label, Smooth Jaws. Working heavily with other LA songwriters and artists, including ascending pop singer Lizzy Land, the brothers realized they missed creating music as a duo and immediately began work on Mating Ritual’s forthcoming sophomore album, Light Myself On Fire.

Blending Taylor’s love of 80’s synth pop with Ryan’s post punk infatuation, Light Myself On Fire is a darker, grittier record that shows the brothers refining their individual talents to form a much grander and more unified statement. Written entirely after midnight (with the exception of one noticeably sunny tune), these 9 songs talk about maturation and commitment. “Committing to anything long term can be difficult,” says Ryan “Boredom and complacency set in, and while change can be a good thing, using it as a crutch will just bring you back to the same place, feeling emptier than before. This album is about learning that the grass is not always greener, that the next fleeting dopamine rush won’t solve everything. In a weird way, I think this my better-late-than-never coming of age record.”

  • Lizzy Land

    Lizzy Land

    Indie Pop

Lizzy Land (Elizabeth Marie Land) is an unsigned American singer and songwriter from Portland, OR. Her proclivity for strong female singers shaped her diverse musical influences as a child, from bands like The Cranberries to pop icons like the Spice Girls and Celine Dion. Although she's been approached by television talent shows since the age of 15, she chose instead to forge her own way, building the foundation for a career of authenticity, self-empowerment and creative freedom.

Since relocating to Los Angeles in 2013, she has worked alongside artists from Empire of the Sun, Paul Oakenfold, Ben Phipps, Mating Ritual, Schier and Sam F. In late 2016, Lizzy released her debut single, "Sweet Melodies" (produced by Suede James) to instant acclaim. Soaring solely on memorable production and impressively dynamic vocals, the song shot to the top of HypeMachine and was added to several notable Spotify playlists including New Music Friday (reaching top 15 on both the US and Global Spotify Viral charts) making her an in-demand vocalist for upcoming and notable producers. Recent vocal features further cemented her ability as a writer and vocal gymnast, elevating tracks with the effortless grace of a performer in complete control of her art.

  • The Undercurrent

    The Undercurrent

    Music

The Undercurrent is the San Francisco-based indie duo of Wendy Chuah and Paul Zielinski. The two first met in 2015, and small talk quickly turned into meaningful songwriting. With Wendy as an expressive vocalist and lyricist, and Paul as an experienced producer and multi-instrumentalist, they have been able to play off each other’s artistic strengths and sensibilities to create a soulful, indie pop sound with a distinctive California vibe. As their name suggests, despite their often contrary musical tastes, an underlying force allows the duo to meet in the in-between — combining driving beats, layered guitar riffs, memorable melodies, and tying it all together with heartfelt lyrics.

The duo released their first single and music video for Waves in early 2017, and follow up track Who’s To Blame soon after. They are currently recording their debut EP and have since assembled a live band, playing shows around the Bay Area and quickly building up a loyal local following.
