Mariachi Herencia de México
The historic tradition of mariachi music has its roots of origin in cities such as Guadalajara and Mexico City. As the ever-evolving genre's influence spread, it reached Chicago and birthed Mariachi Herencia de México. The 2x Latin GRAMMY®-nominated band has issued six chart-topping albums and has performed all across the North American continent paving the way for a new generation of mariachi musicians.
Nuestra Herencia, their 2017 debut album, topped the Latin streaming charts and earned the band their first Latin GRAMMY®-nomination for Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album. 2018's Herencia de la Tierra Mía and the two-volume series, Esencia and Esencia, Vol. 2 issued in 2019 and 2020, respectively, charted atop all major streaming platforms and industry charts. In 2022, Herederos appeared as the band were performing a wildly successful North American tour. Herederos received a 2023 Latin GRAMMY® nomination for Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album. In 2025, Mariachi Herencia de México released the groundbreaking album Viva La Música, with six hit singles (Inolvidable, Preciosa, La Murga, Perdón, Espléndida and Caminaré) that have amassed millions of views and streams worldwide. The young, virtuosic band is composed of 14 musicians representing a new bicultural generation in the U.S.
“Some albums arrive like declarations, and Viva La Música is one of them. The album is an expansive, genre-bending offering from Mariachi Herencia de México and feels less like a departure and more like a deepening. Raised in Chicago, shaped by Mexican tradition, and fluent in the musical dialects of salsa, jazz, bolero, and soul, the band channels a bicultural reality that’s as intuitive as it is intentional.” Ladygunn
“Mariachi Herencia de México brings mariachi music to the charts, while staying true to their Mexican roots.” Billboard
“Mariachi Herencia de México takes mariachi music to whole new heights.”
The Chicago Sun-Times
“These final notes epitomized the purpose of Mariachi Herencia – to bring our past and the pride of Mexico to new spaces, new generations and new heights.” The Michigan Daily
“In 2022, Herederos appeared as the group were performing a wildly successful North American tour.” Apple Music
