Halo Refuser is the electronic alter-ego of genre-defying producer/keyboardist extraordinaire Asher Fulero - and an anagram of his name (rearrange the letters to see).
With 5 releases since 2009 plus a multitude of singles and compilation appearances on labels from Seattle, NYC, and SF, Halo Refuser is an exciting, growing EDM experience that draws upon wide-ranging sources for a danceable journey through broken-beat electronica styles and cutting-edge music tech explorations.
Carrying prestigious endorsements as both a Moog Artist and a Nord Artist, Fulero uses an endless litany of modern production techniques to create his sonically rich studio track, all of which eventually become manipulation fodder, re-warped from within Ableton Live, his main production/performance software for 10 years (with whom he also works closely), and then augmented by effected vocals, live keyboards, melodica, and wireless controller antics.
Together with Lights Up Loud, a stunning live light show performed by PDX legend Jason Goers, the psychedelic Light+Sound experience takes the audience on a ride through Dubstep, Trip-hop, IDM, Glitch, Breaks, Downtempo, Psy-dub, and more, all refracted through the lens of Fulero's incredible keyboard abilities (he is a busy studio session player in genres across the board in addition to his virtuosic solo piano albums).
He also maintains an ongoing collaboration with PDX-based burlesque/bellydance fusion troupe Bridgetown Revue, expanding the show with amazing dances, costumes, and props.
Halo Refuser has been featured at trend-setting events like Decibel Festival, What The Festival?!, Emrg-n-See, Photosynthesis and many more, and has shared bills with luminaries such as Sound Tribe Sector 9, Big Gigantic, Bluetech, Phil Hartnoll (Orbital), KJ Sawka, EOTO, Rena Jones, Natasha Kmeto, R/D, Gaslamp Killer, and many more.
He carries prestigious endorsements from both Nord Keyboards and Moog Synthesizers and works closely with the folks at Ableton, his performing software for more than 10 years.
