As part of our Fest-O-Matic series, we are excited to bring back “Louisiana Calling,” a 3-night residency by one of the finest slide guitar players to ever pick up the instrument…Lafayette’s own Sonny Landreth!
Bonnie Raitt calls him, “one of the most astonishing guitarists I know.” Eric Clapton says, ““Sonny Landreth is probably the most underestimated musician on the planet, and also probably one of the most advanced.”
With multiple Grammy nominations and credits that include Clifton Chenier, Jimmy Buffett, John Mayall and John Hiatt, Sonny has been lighting up stages around the world for decades. And we are blessed that he chooses Chickie Wah Wah as the place to do a residency with some of his favorite musicians in South Louisiana. Each night will feature another artist handpicked by Sonny starting with a full set of their own music, and then Sonny closing the show with a set of his own.
On Friday, 4/25, Sonny will be joined by fellow Lafayette rockers (and Grammy nominee) Roddie Romero and Michael Juan Nunez. These guys are the cream of the crop when it comes to authentic Louisiana music.
Sonny and his band will follow with a set of their own on each night.
All of the shows in this series are going to be absolute stand-out highlights in a jam packed Jazzfest season, so get your tickets now and get ready to rock!
Chickie Wah Wah Presents
Louisiana Calling ft. Sonny Landreth and special guests Rodie Romero & Michael Juan Nunez
-
Virtuoso slide guitarist Sonny Landreth is back in London hot on the heels of his "Recorded Live in Lafayette" 16-song new album, his first live album in over 12 years.
Sonny Landreth has collaborated with the very top names in guitar over the years: Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Eric Johnson, Derek Trucks – the list goes on. The noted slideman cut his musical teeth in The Red Hot Louisiana Band of zydeco king Clifton Chenier, and Landreth has since recorded and toured with artists ranging from John Mayall to John Hiatt.
