Lomax on Lomax
John Lomax III of the legendary Lomax folk music family performs his dad's favorite songs as well as others from the Lomax legacy,

That legacy goes back to the 1910 publication of John Avery Lomax’s book, COWBOY SONGS & OTHER FRONTIER BALLADS. John Avery Lomax and his son Alan traveled around America gathering folksongs in collaboration with the LIbrary of Congress. His other son, John Avery Jr., organized his father's lecture tours and co-founded the Houston Folklore & Music Society. A performer himself, Avery Jr. presented Lomax musical discoveries in a performance/lecture setting. John Lomax III continues in that Lomax tradition.

The show runs about 90 minutes and is followed by a Q&A session.

John Lomax III, a Houston native, is a music journalist, former record label executive, and author and was artist manager for Townes Van Zandt and Steve Earle, among others. His books include For The Sake of the Song: The Townes Van Zandt Songbook (with Joe Lomax) and Nashville: Music City U.S.A.

We are asking everyone to wear masks in our small space--thank you so much, and we'll have extras if you forget yours.
