Praised by his mentor Herbie Hancock as “a musical painter,” the sound of Lionel Loueke combines har­monic sophistication, soaring melody, and a deep knowledge of African music with a beautifully person­alized acoustic guitar technique. He toured the world as a member of Hancock’s band for more than a decade and most recently joined the touring group of Chick Corea. Loueke released four albums on the fabled Blue Note label and performed as a member of Blue Note’s 75th anniversary all–star band with Robert Glasper, Derrick Hodge, Kendrick Scott, Ambrose Akinmusire and Marcus Strickland.
