Liam ó Maonlaí of Hothouse Flowers

    Alternative

Liam has been the charismatic front man for the internationally loved band, Hothouse Flowers, since their beginnings in the late 1980's. He has honed his craft for decades and has earned his place as one of the most beloved and respected music carriers in Ireland. In addition to his two solo albums, Rían and To Be Touched, Liam's recent projects include showcasing the songs of Van Morrison, Leonard Cohen, David Bowie and Bruce Springsteen in Irish Gaelic, touring the world as musical director for the dance performance, Rían, playing vibrant live shows with The Flowers and his trad band Ré, and collaborating with jazz singer Cassandra Wilson at the Irish Arts Center in Manhattan, Chicago and Los Angeles. Liam is an unforgettable performer who conveys sheer mastery in authentic Gaelic styles, original ballads, and blues-inspired rock and roll. He is a gifted singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who delivers the ethos of Ireland and the universality of the human soul. Liam says, "I see my solo stage as a story-telling place where I am at ease and I can form a relationship between myself and the house I perform in …revealing the songs and sounds that have been like sunlight to me in life.”

    Blues-Rock

Coming off a successful tour of Ireland, a show with Blues Icon Jimmie Vaughan, and a gig at Madison Square Garden performing for the audience of the New York Knicks, Dylan Doyle returns to Daryl’s House with his band. Touring since the age 15, Dylan has been delighting audiences around the country, but frustrates anyone trying to define his sound. His style of music lies somewhere between roots rock and jam funk. It evokes Woodstock but also dips into southern soul. It’s a uniquely American sound Doyle calls “a big melting pot.” Early in his career after sharing the stage with the sole survivor of the Otis Redding plane crash, Ben Cauley likened Dylan to a young Jim Hendrix. John Platania, guitarist for Van Morrison, refers to Dylan as “The Future.” Bill Payne of Little Feat said after playing with Dylan, “Music is a conversation. Dylan spoke beautifully and listened to the musicians around him, his play was imaginative, original, and flawless.” With Daryl’s House being one of the young performer’s favorite venues to play, you can always expect him to bring a little extra to this performance.
