Description
New Orleans native Leon Anderson Jr. is the Director of Jazz Studies at Florida State University faculty, where he has been an associate music professor since 1998. His musical experience includes that of a classical and jazz percussionist, educator, clinician, and composer. Mr. Anderson earned his music degrees at Louisiana Tech University and Southeastern Louisiana University. His mentors included Ellis Marsalis Jr, Willis Delony, and Victor Goines of New Orleans, as well as the late bassist Ben Tucker. For many years, Anderson played with Ellis Marsalis on Fridays nights here at Snug.

MORE ABOUT LEON ANDERSON:
In 1997, Mr. Anderson was a featured soloist with The Marcus Roberts Trio’s performance with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, and he was the selected drummer for the “Great Saxophone Legends” concert at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, featuring Jimmy Heath, David Sanchez, Javon Jackson and Red Holloway. This was a year that catapulted Leon to the beginnings of his national recognition.
Anderson also has performed with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Additionally, he has performed with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra with the Ellis Marsalis Trio; National Orchestra de France with the Marcus Roberts Trio; Umbria Jazz Festival, Perugia Italy; Ingolstadt Jazztage in Bavaria; Switzerland Jazz Festival in Basel; North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and Ascona Jazz Festival in Ascona, Switzerland.
He has appeared on more than a dozen critcially acclaimed albums, including recordings with Victor Goines, Marcus Roberts, Etienne Charles, Melvin Jones, and more.

Kind Reminder: Snug Harbor does NOT serve food inside the Music Room. In order to preserve the integrity, quiet and focus of our world class intimate concerts, only cocktails and soft drinks are available for table service inside the Music Room. However, we encourage you to arrive at least 90 Minutes prior to your showtime in order to enjoy full, relaxing dinner service in the Dining Room right next door, before getting seated in the Music Room for the show.

ALL CONCERT TICKET SALES ARE FINAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE. However, we do offer ticket transfers from one name to another, provided you email us your e-ticket confirmation and the name(s) you would like your ticket(s) transferred to via shows@snugjazz.com before 5pm on day of show, or sooner. You can also choose to gift your ticket(s) to our New Orleans Music Student Program where un-claimed tickets are offered to young music students and/or rising musician apprentices, if you cannot use your ticket(s). We can also transfer tickets from one show TIME to another on the SAME DATE ONLY, *provided space is available* at the time of your request. You must email shows@snugjazz.com before 5pm on day of show with your request. Tickets are NOT transferrable to a different artist/date.
