Description
Lenny White earned a worldwide reputation as a founding father of jazz–rock fusion with Seventies super group Return to Forever. But by 1972, the year of RTF’s self–titled debut album, Lenny already had recorded with Miles Davis on his groundbreaking Bitches Brew and with Freddie Hubbard on the CTI classic Red Clay. Lenny’s superb technique, exceptional musicianship, and “open ears” have led him to collaborate with such major artists as Joe Henderson, Gil Evans, Herbie Hancock, and Carlos Santana, just to name a few. In the new century, he’s regrouped with Return To Forever for a hugely successful 2008 world tour; released Anomaly, his thirteenth album as a leader, in 2010; and won his second Grammy Award (in 2011) in the category of Best Contemporary Jazz Album for the self–titled album by The Stanley Clarke Band, which Lenny and Stanley co–produced. This week on our stage, Lenny White will lead two outstanding groups of old friends including Miles Davis alumni Ron Carter, Bennie Maupin, and Foley – make your reservations now!
Lenny White – drums
Bennie Maupin – saxophones, flute, bass clarinet
Patrice Rushen – keyboards
Foley – bass
Victor Bailey – bass
