Lauren White:
Eminently soulful and stylish Los Angeles based vocalist Lauren White may be a relatively new face on the indie jazz scene, but she’s been leading up to her emergence with Meant To Be with a colorful career as a performer that includes appearing in musical shows on and off Broadway, acting on soap operas and working as a popular cabaret performer for many years.
It’s always inspiring when artists new to the public don’t play it safe by rehashing the same old standards we’ve heard a million times. More than simply a genre-transcendent 10 track set celebrating White’s many influences, Meant To Be is a true invitation. With her beautiful voice and crisp, emotional phrasing that goes inside the lyrics, she opens a door beyond these fresh interpretations of magical (and sometimes obscure) gems that will hopefully prompt listeners to embark on a whimsical musical discovery tour of their own.
Quinn Johnson:
Pianist and composer Quinn Johnson has lived in four different countries on three different continents, and has played music from around the world with Cuban, Brasilian, Persian, African, Middle Eastern and Chinese artists. He has performed and/or recorded with Steve Tyrell (for whom he serves as musical director), Rita Coolidge, John Densmore (of The Doors), Flora Purim, Airto Moreira, Rod Stewart, Diana Ross, Andrea Bocelli, Martin Short, Richard Carpenter, Clare Fischer, Regis Philbin, Jeff Kashiwa, Francisco Aguabella, Jack Sheldon, Wayne Brady, Tito Gomez, Down to the Bone, Marilyn Scott, Jerry Seinfeld, America's Got Talent, and Dancing with the Stars. He has also appeared on many TV shows including the Tonight Show, the Today Show, the David Letterman Show, The Martha Stewart Show, and The View. His playing can be heard on manyTV shows and feature films. He has had the pleasure of playing music at some of the larger jazz festivals around the world, such as Montreux, Vitoria (Spain), Capetown, Detriot, San Jose, San Sebastion (Spain), and Bangkok, as well as performing in such venues as Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, The Mark Taper Forum, and Boston Symphony Hall.

Lauren White is an accomplished Los Angeles-based jazz singer with a beautiful and versatile voice. Her first three CDs, Lauren White, Experiment, and Meant to Be, were well received and have enjoyed airplay on L.A.’s local jazz station KJAZZ as well as throughout the country. She performs twice yearly at the Metropolitan Room in New York City and can be heard in many jazz venues in the Los Angeles area, including Catalina Bar & Grill, Vitello’s, and the Cinegrill. Her third CD, Out of the Past: Jazz & Noir, was released in May 2016. With updated jazz arrangements, the project brings to life songs featured in some of the most popular movies of the Film Noir genre. Life in the Modern World, her latest recording, was released in May 2019.
Lauren was born and raised in in Great Neck, Long Island. Throughout a wide ranging life, she has long known that her true love was singing. Her first musical inspiration was an aunt who was an opera singer. Her parents also loved the theater and frequently took the family on outings to Broadway plays. Lauren was inspired to perform at an early age and appeared often in local musical theater.
When she got older, Lauren pursued an acting career, first attending NYU with a major in Liberal Arts, and then studying with the famed Uta Hagen at the Herbert Berghof Studio. She became a working actress, playing leads on several daytime soap operas, including The Doctors and How to Survive a Marriage, and establishing herself as a versatile musical theater performer in shows like Is There Life After High School? (Broadway) and Company (Equity Library Theatre). She soon became a regular on the New York music scene, singing standards and contemporary music in clubs around the city.
After moving to Los Angeles, Lauren continued acting in episodic television and theater, but soon returned to singing, her first love, and began performing in local Southern California venues. She is currently a co-producer on the hit Showtime series, Homeland, and lives in Pacific Palisades with her husband Alex Gansa, a television writer/producer and creator of Homeland.
