Authentic. Poetic. Conscious. Raw.
Born in Queens, New York, Lauren both found and developed her authentic expression through poetry and music. In San Francisco, she began performing acoustically, later moving to Boulder, Colorado and forming her band, Coy Kindred. The band toured the Western U.S., playing its rugged blend of rock, blues, and funk at festivals, theaters, saloons and clubs.
Moved and inspired by artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, and Janis Joplin, surely some of the greatest rockers ever, Lauren Monroe developed a style producers, musicians, and rock historians have compared to those legendary women of rock and blues. Her sound and vocal quality — raw, sawdust-on-the-floor honesty — combined with the emotional and spiritual power of her performance draws audiences in, invigorates, and speaks to us on so many levels.
Lauren’s second solo album Under the Wolf Moon, produced by Jim Scott, was released in February 2021.
“Under the Wolf Moon is made up of 12 tracks that I feel have the power to bring us together…written from my heart…my own stories and my own experiences. The record is a
collection of songs that are written to inspire, teach and heal as we face all of the challenges of life. The lyrics are, for me, the embodiment of the soul-nourishing power of music to help
us face adversity and each song carries emotional and spiritual messages that can open our hearts. How to trust, how to heal, how to die, how to love and overcome…every song is
steeped with symbolism and teachings of healing and connecting to the inner knowing we all carry. This album reflects that journey and our ability to grow and thrive with a deeper understanding of what love truly is.
