Lauren Lakis: A Fiesta and a Hell Tour

A child of Baltimore, Lauren grew to embrace the fatalistic
spirit of the city in her work and art. With stunningly raw,
haunting tones, Lakis is “a breath of fresh air in the music
industry, arriving with her own brand of “delightfully
gut-churning shoegaze”’ (Flaunt).
Previous releases include 2021’s full length album Daughter
Language, released via Green Witch Recordings (Pearl Earl,
Pale Dian, Timothy Eerie), and 2019’s Sad Girl Breakfast via
Portland’s Cavity Search Records (Elliott Smith, Helio
Sequence). Both releases have garnered radio airplay on 40+
stations nationwide including KUTX + KOOP, and placement
on 150+ Spotify playlists, as well as critical acclaim from
Flaunt, Metal Mag, Wonderland, Grimy Goods, Buzzbands LA,
Atwood, Earmilk, Ladygunn, and more. Lakis has also
licensed tracks to Dating Pains and The Drunch.
Lakis and her full band have toured the West Coast
extensively, and have shared bills with Ringo Deathstarr, Holy
Wave, Sea Wolf, Peel Dream Magazine, Drowse, and Deaf
Club (Justin Pearson of The Locust). Recently the band
played The New Colossus Festival in NYC, SXSW, and a
Levitation kickoff party. Pre pandemic, the band played to a
sold-out room at Doug Fir Lounge, as well as The Catalyst
Santa Cruz, with Flor & Winnetka Bowling League. Lauren
also performed a pair of solo shows with Grammy-nominated
rocker Tracy Bonham. During quarantine, Lauren performed live-streamed shows with Bands In Town, Jam in the
Van, B Side TV, Rock to End Rape Culture, KXLU, and ACLU.
Lauren’s upcoming album, A Fiesta and a Hell (again partnering with Green Witch Recordings), was recorded in
Austin, Texas with Modern Medicine producing (Wild Child, Josie Lockhart), Elliott Frazier of Ringo Deathstarr
mixing, and Christopher Colbert (Mazzy Star, Starflyer 59, Leon Bridges) mastering. With the album’s name
serving as a nod to Violette Leduc’s La Batârde, these songs serve as a commentary on the grief, anger, and lack
of warmth that’s permeated the last few years; “the best of times, the worst of times”...plus exactly one love song.
